Health & Safety Department LeadThis position offers the opportunity to lead the Health and Safety department in overseeing the operational and delivery functions across various projects in the North of England. The successful candidate will ensure that all health and safety processes are effectively managed and delivered in line with project requirements. Reporting to the board, the role focuses on maintaining high standards of service competency and financial performance. Role Overview: The Health and Safety Department Lead will manage a team of four and oversee the expansion of the team as workload increases. With secured contracts covering over 95% of the current financial year, the role involves the organic growth of the department to meet future demands. The candidate will also manage the delivery of key health and safety services, such as CDM Principal Designer and Building Regulations Principal Designer roles, ensuring team competence and compliance with industry standards. With multiple offices across key locations, they are seeking an ambitious Health and Safety Department Lead to drive their health and safety team forward and ensure excellence in service delivery.
  • Lead and manage the operational delivery of health and safety services across projects in the North of England.
  • Oversee the performance and development of a dedicated team of health and safety professionals.
  • Ensure compliance with CDM regulations and act as the Principal Designer on construction projects.
  • Collaborate with the board to report on departmental performance, including financial targets and service competency.
  • Expand the health and safety department in line with secured workloads and framework agreements.
  • Maintain and improve existing processes, procedures, and management tools for effective project delivery.
  • Provide general health and safety consultancy services as required.
Experience & Skills Required
  • Significant experience in a leadership role within health and safety, preferably in the construction industry.
  • Strong knowledge of CDM regulations and experience in acting as Principal Designer.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
  • Ability to lead and inspire a team while overseeing its expansion.
  • Experience reporting to senior leadership on financial and operational performance.
