Finance AssistantSpink an international Auction House has a vacancy for a Finance Assistant to report to the Finance Manager. The position would suit someone who enjoys client contact in person and on the telephone. The ability to speak another language would be helpful.Main aim of the role is to process payments to clients and suppliers:Main TasksWorking alongside a fast-paced finance team assisting handling internal / external queries, making payments and collecting outstanding monies owedManaging the processing of supplier invoices.Set up payments to suppliers and clients.Handle foreign currency transactions.Preparing and entering journals into the finance / auction system.Liaise with auction specialists when obtaining client information and other pre-sale activity.Circulate monthly aged vendors reports to specialist departments.Send out settlement statements and update vendor on status of their account.Work with specialists to process stock bought and sold at auction. Ensuring all outstanding buyer accounts are chased appropriately Take and allocate cash and cheque paymentsUpdate accounting records with daily bank deposits and paymentsRun daily totals off all credit card machines, collect and check all supporting paperworkManage the reconciliation and settlement of claims ledger balancesDeposit cheques at local bankChase auction and retail buyers for payment when dueUnderstand VAT issues relevant to auctionsAssisting the Finance Manager with monthly bank reconciliations.Key Attributes RequiredStrong numeracy, admin, organisational and time management skills.Attention to detail essential to ensure accuracy of payments.Good standard of written and spoken English.Experience of customer service.Confident user of online banking systems, Microsoft Excel and Word.Desirable: Sun accounting experienceExperience of or desire to work in small Finance team in owner-managed business.Salary £25-30K dependent on experience
