JOB TITLE: TOOL MAKER - Part time / 3 days per week Location Rainham, UK Hours of Work 8:00am-4:30pm; 3 Days Per Week (Flexible) Contract type Permanent - Part Time Pay Rate £18.18 per hour About the Job You will be accountable for the safe design and manufacture of critical business tooling, fixtures, prototypes, and jigs needed to ensure output targets are met. You will work closely with the Engineering, Machine Shop, Assembly, Quality, Stores, and Planning Teams to deliver solutions to support the Rainham plant. MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES: * Safely design & manufacture tooling, jigs and fixtures as requested. * Undertake or arrange maintenance on plant, production tooling, jigs and fixtures as required or requested and develop preventative maintenance strategies. * Manufacture prototype and special parts as requested. * Recognise and report opportunities for tooling to assist/improve the manufacturing process. * Recognise, remedy or report failings in skills, equipment or procedures. * Maintain a clean, safe working environment and good housekeeping standards. * Maintain good communications and relationships throughout the company. * Ensure compliance with company procedures and make suggestions for improvement. What you will already have: * Ability to read & interpret technical engineering drawings * Knowledge of standard toolroom equipment including lathes, presses, grinders (surface, cylindrical, cutter, bench), milling machines, drills, welding, etc. * Keen attention to detail * Good hand tool skills * Good housekeeping practices * Excellent skills in maths * Able to work as a team and independently * Sound methodical approach and be inquisitive for how things work * Correct usage of precision measuring equipment * Knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics, and electrical system preferred * Recognised engineering apprenticeship preferred * CAD Experience would be an excellent attribute, ideally on SolidEdge or SolidWorks but not essential. * Machine Knowledge of Haas & Fanuc would be beneficial. * Manual machine experience in Lathe, Mill, Grinder & bandsaw etc COMPANY OVERVIEW: Our client is a stable, long standing company manufacturing high end, luxury household products.
