Design Manager
Our partner is a well-regarded and highly skilled engineering service provider in the water industry. Covering the South East region, they provide optimisation services and robust engineering solutions, with a varied portfolio across both waste and clean water. This is a great opportunity for a Design Manager to join a growing innovative business.
As Design Manager, you’ll lead innovative design projects from concept to completion, managing budgets, coordinating with experts and delivering cost-effective, cutting-edge solutions across all project stages from construction to decommissioning.
Your responsibilities as a Design Manager will include:
* Lead and manage a multidisciplinary design team to deliver high-quality designs for water-related projects, ensuring alignment with company goals and sufficient resources.
* Oversee the development of process, mechanical, electrical, civil, and temporary works designs, ensuring compliance with regulations like CDM and BS 5975.
* Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients to ensure technical designs meet statutory, client standards, and identify value engineering opportunities.
* Manage design documentation, conduct technical reviews, coordinate with the construction team, and ensure timely and clear production of design deliverables.
* Stay up-to-date on industry innovations, changing legislation, and ensure Health and Safety compliance across all design-related activities.
The Requirements:
* Minimum 5 years of experience delivering design solutions from first principles.
* Ideally MEng/MSc in a relevant engineering discipline and Chartered Engineer status however experience will be considered.
* Proven experience in leading technical teams, ideally as a Design/Engineering Manager.
* Familiarity with WIMES and water company specifications is preferred.
* Strong management skills in handling staff, clients, commercial aspects, and project timelines, with excellent computer literacy, communication skills, and a solid understanding of CDM and health and safety practices.
