Dreweatts Auction House is a leading auctioneer of fine art, antiques, and collectibles based in Newbury. We are dedicated to making the world of auctions accessible and exciting for everyone. Our Interiors Department is at the forefront of this mission, providing an entry point for new collectors and a welcoming space for seasoned enthusiasts. We believe that everyone should have the opportunity to discover and acquire beautiful pieces that enhance their living spaces. We are seeking a new dynamic Head of Interiors, to manage and compile our monthly Interior auctions. This exciting role would suit a candidate with a broad general market knowledge and a deep understanding of auctions; someone looking for an opportunity to take ownership of a department, busy sale schedule of 10-12 auctions and with a focus on making it accessible to a broad audience. We are looking for someone who is motivated and innovative to think dynamically and creatively about the presentation of the auctions to elevate them to the next level. Key Responsibilities: Auction Management: Provide auction estimates, write catalogue descriptions, liaise with colleagues to ensure the accuracy of descriptions, conduct condition reports, curate the order of the auctions, ensure cataloguing and photography deadline are met, liaise with photographers for catalogue and marketing images, work with marketing to provide copy and images, co-ordinate and attend auction viewings, partake in auction days. Ensure the smooth running of the entire auction process from pre to post sale, Budgets: Manage and work towards meeting financial targets.Client management: Provide excellent client service management and reporting to vendors Leadership: Lead, inspire and manage a small team of support staff, fostering a collaborative and inclusive environment. Development: Develop and implement strategies to make auctions more accessible to new collectors and to enhance the department brand. Identify and pursue opportunities to grow the department through consignments, partnerships and relationships with buyers and vendors.Client Relations: Maintain and develop relationships with existing clients, and attract new clients through networking and marketing initiatives. Ensure client database is up to date and in accordance with current regulations. Market Analysis: Stay informed about market trends and developments to ensure the department remains competitive. Collaboration: Work closely with other departments to ensure a cohesive approach to business development and client service.  Qualifications:?      Graduate in Art History, Fine Arts, or related field desirable or equivalent work experience?      Minimum 3 years’ experience in cataloguing and auction house administration?      Experience working with works of art, ceramics, furniture and pictures at a low to mid market level?      An understanding and experience of how to present and market to new collectors and audiences?      Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.?      Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).?      Excellent written and verbal communication skills.?      Ability to multitask and meet deadlines.?      Happy to work both hands on in a warehouse handling objects, and within an office environment Note: This job description is intended to provide an overview of the responsibilities and qualifications for the position.
