Job Requirements / Description

My Midlands based M&E Contract are looking for a Mechanical Contracts Manager to oversee mechanical installation projects from conception to completion in the new build sector.

Duties:-

  • Overseeing all mechanical aspects of new build projects, from initial design to handover, ensuring compliance with specifications and regulations at all times.
  • Handling contract negotiations, variations, and claims, ensuring that all legal, financial, and commercial terms are met.
  • Lead and coordinate project teams, including engineers, site supervisors, and contractors, ensuring that all team members are aligned and working towards project goals.
  • Act as the main point of contact for clients, providing regular updates and ensuring client satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Manage project budgets, prepare financial reports, and ensure cost control measures are implemented to keep projects within budget.
  • Develop detailed project schedules, monitor progress, and make adjustments as necessary to meet deadlines.
  • Identify potential risks early in the project and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure all projects comply with health and safety regulations, conducting regular site inspections and audits.
  • Manage relationships with suppliers and subcontractors, ensuring materials and services meet project requirements.
  • Oversee quality control processes, ensuring all installations meet industry standards and client expectations.
  • Prepare regular progress reports for senior management, and clients

Key Skills: -

  • Ideally have worked as Contracts Manager within New build previously or if you have experience as a new build manager for someone looking to come off the tools.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and piping, as well as building codes and regulations.
  • Proven ability to manage and motivate a multidisciplinary team.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with clients, stakeholders, and internal teams.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to solve complex project challenges.
  • Proficiency in project management software, excel etc
  • Comprehensive knowledge of construction health and safety regulations.
  • Holds CSCS, SMSTS or equivalent
  • Gas safe registered would be advantageous.
