Location: Hillingdon, London Start Date: October 2024 Salary: £35,521- £51,245 Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent Are you a passionate SEND teacher looking for an exciting opportunity to help shape the future of a brand-new school? We are recruiting on behalf of a new SEND Primary school in Hillingdon, opening in October 2024, that is dedicated to providing an innovative and nurturing environment for children with Severe Learning Disabilities (SLD). About the School: This new SEND school will open its doors with 5 classes, each with a maximum of 8 students, growing to a total of 40 students. Initially, the school will welcome 20 students, expanding to 40 by the end of the year. The school follows the equals curriculum, designed to meet the needs of students with SLD, focusing on communication, independence, and life skills. Unlike the National Curriculum, this approach is play-based and tailored to individual learning needs, ensuring a safe, happy, and stimulating environment for every child. Key Responsibilities: Deliver creative, play-based lessons designed around the equals curriculum. Support the development of independence, communication, and essential life skills. Work collaboratively with support staff to provide personalized care for each student. Help foster a safe and happy learning environment for children with SLD. Engage with families and external agencies to ensure the best educational outcomes. Key Details: 5 classes with a maximum of 8 students per class (total 40 students). 20 students initially, with an additional 20 students joining later in the year. October half-term will include 1 week of INSET for staff development. The school's approach is play-based, not following the National Curriculum, but prioritizing holistic learning for students with SLD. What We're Looking For: Qualified teacher status (QTS) or equivalent SEND teaching experience. Experience working with students with Autism or similar learning needs. A passion for using creative, play-based approaches to teaching. Strong communication and teamwork skills. Dedication to creating a nurturing and inclusive environment for children with SEND.
