The team play a key role within a thriving team which includes working with and advising the legal teams. There are several opportunities at all levels in drafting and/or negotiation and costs management so whatever your experience or preference get in touch to find out more. The ideal candidates will have some understanding of legal costs and be comfortable with figures. Legal costs and billing experience of drafting schedules of costs or bills would be required for the drafting and negotiation roles and advantageous for other roles within the team but we are also looking for people with the aptitude to provide support in the management of costs and billing process. The Roles and Key ResponsibilitiesThe variety of tasks involved may, depending on your skills and position in team, include:Costs Lawyers - Associates/ Senior Associates / DraftspersonsWe appreciate that some applicants may prefer certain aspects or tasks i.e drafting rather than negotiation, and we can accommodate that for the right people. Preparing schedules and bills of costs, replies to points of dispute and other documents required during costs processNegotiating with costs draftspersons and Defendants re settlement of costsPreparing and updating Budgets of costsLiaising with lawyers and costs team membersAdvising on likely levels of recovery of costs Legal Costs assistantsProviding support to team members in preparation of Schedules and bills of costsTracking progress of bills within the team and the court.Submitting bills to court for assessmentPreparing bundles needed for costs processLiaising with lawyers and others in the team to gather information.Record keeping and payment of bills and invoicesOther tasks to support costs drafting and processes in the teamThere will be an opportunity to learn more about the legal costs process and our litigation and Court of Protection work and become involved in the wider CL Medilaw team.
