Senior Data Engineer

A fast-scaling financial company is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join their expanding tech and analytics teams. The company is looking to become more cross-functional, with a strong focus on coaching and mentoring team members to enhance their problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities:
- Design and implement scalable and secure data architectures from various data sources (APIs, web scrapers, SFTP), focusing on performance, security, and adaptability.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver data-driven solutions, supporting a culture of continuous learning and problem-solving.
- Mentor and coach junior engineers, promoting best practices in clean code, testing, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Lead the onboarding of data, ensuring seamless and secure integration processes that meet compliance standards.
- Act as a technical expert, assisting with complex data engineering issues and ensuring high-quality solutions.
- Drive continuous improvement by staying on top of emerging trends and implementing innovative tools and methodologies.
- Engage with cloud-based technologies, particularly within Microsoft Azure, using tools like Azure Data Factory, Data Lake, and Azure Functions.
- Utilize Infrastructure as Code (IaC), leveraging Terraform for efficient, scalable infrastructure management.
- Build and manage ETL/ELT workflows for data processing and analysis.
Core Skills & Expertise:
- 5+ years of experience as a Data Engineer, DevOps Engineer, or Systems Engineer.
- Advanced proficiency in Python for data retrieval, processing, and integration, with a focus on reusable and efficient code.
- Strong expertise in Microsoft Azure, with experience deploying and managing scalable data infrastructures.
- Hands-on experience with IaC tools like Terraform and Bicep.
- Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and setting up secure SFTP/FTPS configurations.
- Skilled in SQL/NoSQL databases and creating ETL/ELT workflows for analytics.
Desirable Experience:
- Proven experience working in an Agile development squad, with a collaborative mindset.
- A passion for mentoring and upskilling team members to create a high-performance, cross-functional environment.
- Familiarity with Azure Databricks, Docker, and Kubernetes.
- Experience with programming languages like Scala, Powershell, or YAML.
