Position Responsibilities

Performs structural engineering design and prepares design and construction documents, integrating own work and reviews the work of others.
Solves complex problems in connection with structural engineering segments of projects.
Directs Junior, Intermediate and Professional Structural Engineers in preparation of drawings and engineering design and analysis.
Coordinates details and dimensions.
Reviews structural engineering documents for code compliance.
Develops the entire structural engineering design concept incorporating planning, architectural, engineering, and other required systems.
Oversees the coordination efforts with other disciplines. Ensures structural engineering documents are coordinated with other disciplines.
Oversees the preparation of complete structural engineering documents on projects.
Reviews structural engineering design documents for compliance with approved program requirements.
Confers with clients, consultants, contractors, and others during various stages of project development.
Reviews shop drawing and product submittals for general conformance with the structural engineering documents.
Proactively handles a reasonable workload to meet project task deadlines and commitments and manages own time effectively.

Leadership Responsibilities

Inspires and leads others by example, participates in staff mentoring and training, clearly defines team member expectations and responsibilities, empowers others, and delegates where appropriate based on team members' recognized abilities and potential.
Directly supervises staff and is committed to direct reports' professional development.
Develops and engages in talent strategy to find specialists, leaders, and future professionals for the firm through resume review and interviews.
In collaboration with team members, develops a clear and consistent work plan to achieve the project budget, deliverables, and schedule.
Actively engages in internal and external professional development opportunities.
Contributes to the implementation of sustainable strategies in all project assignments and the associated development of staff knowledge.
Contributes to the development of standards, policies, and procedures.
Protects SOM from financial and legal risk.

Minimum Qualifications

Master's degree in Structural Engineering.
Minimum 6 years of experience in design development, structural analysis, documentation and detailing on a variety of projects.
Professional licensure process is close to completion; LEED accreditation preferred.
Technically astute and a super user for key software e.g. ETABS/ SAFE/ SAP2000/ LUSAS/ Strand7
Tall and complex building experience in UK and Middle East preferably.
Experience working with architects and has a sensibility for design.
Demonstrates practical knowledge of building codes.
Exhibits initiative, process innovation, problem solving, and decision quality with a high attention to precision and accuracy at a project level.
Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams from concept through to Construction Documentation and Construction.
Effectively communicates internally through timely and appropriate written, oral, and visual means.
Demonstrates general knowledge of site planning, civil, structural and mechanical, electrical engineering, and architectural practice.
Demonstrates practical knowledge of building codes.
Possesses advanced knowledge of computational and FEM tools for daily use on project design.
