Category Buyer

Escape is working with a Global Manufacturer who are looking to appoint a Category Buyer. The Category Specialist will work within the Direct Procurement Team and support the manufacturing Facilities based in Glasgow and the US. They will work closely with the Category Managers and be responsible for a specific category of products or services. Responsibilities of the role will include: Conduct strategic sourcing activities for the assigned Category and negotiate contracts, pricing and service level agreements Grow and maintain strong relationships with Suppliers and work with them to drive innovation and continuous improvement Conduct research to identify new Suppliers and on-board them through a rigorous evaluation process Monitor Supplier performance against SLAs and address any issues Work closely with team colleagues to ensure product availability to meet production schedules Personal development is key to our client and they will support with training and development and CIPS. Experience and knowledge required for the role: Experience working in a similar purchasing or procurement role within a manufacturing environment Experience in managing categories would be highly advantageous but not essential Strong analytical and negotiation skills Strong communication skills (written and verbal) who can build strong relationships with Suppliers and Colleagues Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and can prioritise workloads Enthusiastic, motivated with a strong work ethic Our client offers hybrid working, early finish on a Friday and a yearly Bonus If you would like to organise a call to discuss in more detail, please send your CV today!
