Job Description

The Asset Reliability Engineer will be focusing on asset management to enhance reliability and availability, working with team members to improve operational efficiency and ensure value for money maintenance expenditure.


Responsibilities

  • Responsible to the Engineering Director for ensuring that each depot has sufficient serviceable vehicles to meet operational requirements.
  • Development and Delivery of the Asset Management System
  • Ensuring all assets and asset management activities are conducted in accordance with legal and statutory compliance requirements.
  • Developing and implementing strategy, standards, and policy for the execution of asset management activities
  • Exploration and inquiry into emerging and future technologies that will require control changes, and also opportunities for improvement in maintenance and equipment up time.
  • Providing technical advice to the business with respect to assets.
  • Ensuring asset compliance with all relevant legislative and regulatory requirements.
  • Liaising and engaging with OEMs to ensure Metroline Manchester is in possession of all current relevant information on assets.
  • Coordinating and overseeing the delivery of new assets and their return to TfGM at the end of their contractual life.
  • Ensuring all in-service failures are thoroughly investigated to determine root cause and accurate information is captured in the AI.
  • Fully support Business Improvement initiatives and LEAN events, and pro-actively drive Continuous Improvement and Best Practice in the depots.
  • Reviewing and analysing asset management performance data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
  • Timely delivery of accurate KPI reporting.
  • Access real-time asset data to proactively monitor and control risks. This includes data control loops helping determine frequency of failure and intervention frequency. Rather than fix on fail, allowing a preventive approach to fix before failure.
  • An understanding of the company’s obligations to TfGM under the franchise agreement.


Essential Criteria

  • Educated to degree level in engineering related subject or high-level experience in asset procurement, maintenance, data collection and analysis.
  • Must have a sound engineering background in the maintenance/repair of vehicles and plant and previous experience of working as part of a team and reporting into a senior team.
  • A sound working knowledge of bus service operation.
  • Able to prioritise workload to meet deadlines within defined budgetary limits.
  • Have a sound knowledge of various vehicle types, maintenance procedures, working arrangements, and relevant DVSA legislation & interaction.
  • Must hold current Transport Manager CPC qualification, or willing to work towards.


Hours of work

Basic 38 hours per week.

Flexibility required for hours/days worked (including weekends) in line with operational requirements.
