Care Home Chef – Norwich, Norfolk Location: Norwich, Norfolk Pay: £14 - £14.50 per hour depending on experience Type: Permanent Shift: Mixed (Weekdays with Alternative Weekends) About the Role We are seeking a passionate Chef to join the team in Norwich. In this role, you will be responsible for planning and preparing nutritious daily meals for our residents, ensuring the use of fresh ingredients while adhering to budgetary constraints. You will also be tasked with maintaining health, safety, and environmental standards. This is an excellent opportunity for a team player who can inspire and motivate kitchen staff. Reports to: Home Manager Key Duties and Responsibilities Plan and prepare daily menus that cater to the nutritional needs and preferences of residents. Prepare meals that are both appetising and within budget. Monitor food stocks and manage orders as necessary. Maintain accurate records of food orders and inventory. Ensure all food is stored, prepared, and served safely and hygienically. Train and supervise kitchen staff in food preparation and service. Implement and maintain health and safety procedures, including food handling and storage. Maintain a clean and organised kitchen, including regular deep cleaning. Attend staff meetings and training sessions as required. Build positive relationships with residents and their families, responding to feedback and requests promptly.Skills and Attributes Proven experience as a Chef, ideally in a healthcare or hospitality setting. Excellent cooking skills with knowledge of various techniques. Understanding of nutrition and ability to develop menus meeting dietary requirements. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to manage time efficiently and work under pressure. Knowledge of health and safety regulations. Ability to train and supervise kitchen staff. Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.Education and Qualifications Food Hygiene Certified – Level 2, with a willingness to work towards Intermediate qualifications.
