Platform Engineer
Up to £55,000 - DOE - 12 Month Fixed Term Contract

Key Responsibilities:
- Technical Support: Provide advanced 2nd and 3rd line IT support, including troubleshooting, diagnosing, and resolving complex issues. Focus on finding the root cause and implementing permanent solutions.
- Platform Expertise: Work with Linux and Windows platforms, with a willingness to deepen knowledge in both. Manage and optimise public cloud environments, preferably Google Cloud Platform.
- Visualisation & Storage: Administer visualisation technologies and storage arrays.
- Patch Management & Backup: Manage patching processes using software like SCCM or Intune, and handle backup concepts and software.
- Scripting: Develop and maintain scripts using Shell and PowerShell for automation and efficiency.
- Security & Protection: Oversee endpoint protection and anti-virus management, preferably with SentinelOne.
- Incident Management: Use commercial Incident, Problem, and Change management tools
- Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate documentation of systems, procedures, and incident resolutions. Provide regular reports as needed.
- Business Continuity: Understand and apply principles of business continuity and disaster recovery, deploying solutions that ensure high availability of IT services.
Experience:
- Demonstrable experience in 2nd or 3rd line IT support.
- Experience with Linux and/or Windows platforms.
- Familiarity with public cloud environments, preferably Google Cloud Platform.
- Experience with virtualisation technologies (VMware, VxRail, Nutanix).
- Experience with storage arrays (Dell Compellent, HPE Nimble).
- Experience with patch management software (Ivanti, SCCM/Intune).
- Knowledge of backup concepts and software.
- Experience with Dell and HP server hardware.
- Proficiency in Shell and PowerShell scripting.
- Endpoint protection and anti-virus management experience (SentinelOne).
- Experience with commercial incident, problem, and change management tools (BMC Remedy, Halo preferred).
Note: A European passport is required for this role due to travel to UK and European sites.
