Job Requirements / Description
We’re recruiting for a Midlands based Quantity Surveyor & Costing Manager for the Refurbishment and Building Improvement business unit of one of the UK’s top developers and builders. This role will require regular visits to Midlands locations but a high degree of autonomy exists with the role and a degree of working from home is expected. There may be some travel occasionally elsewhere in the UK, and a car or allowance is provided. Our blue-chip client is known as an excellent employer and has an exceptionally low staff turnover. The Quantity Surveying Team is responsible for managing all aspects of the financial and contractual side of construction projects. This includes cost estimation, budgeting, contract administration, and ensuring projects are completed within established financial parameters. The team plays a critical role in maintaining financial control and efficiency throughout the project life-cycle, from initial feasibility studies through to final accounts, ensuring the financial success of each construction project. As a QS & Costing Manager, you will be responsible for producing accurate and cost-effective estimates and cost plans for various developments and schemes. Your expertise will guide projects from initial expressions of interest through to the final contract sum analysis. Key responsibilities include: Estimates & Cost Plans: Develop comprehensive estimates and cost plans covering preliminaries, materials, plant, labour, overheads, and profit for project delivery; Bid Management: Support the bid management process with detailed cost assessments and value engineering; Value Engineering: Implement early value engineering techniques to optimise project costs and outcomes; Risk & Opportunity Management: Identify and price potential risks and opportunities associated with each project. You’ll also be engaging with stakeholders, both internal and external, to support project delivery, managing the commercial function of allocated projects, including practical quantity surveying tasks. To excel in the role you will need to possess a blend of formal education and relevant hands-on experience. In return, our client offers; Professional Growth with an In-house Learning & Development team for your career advancement; A Discretionary annual bonus, health cash plan, life insurance, and more; 25 days of annual leave (increasing with tenure), flexible working from home, and discounted gym memberships; Company car or allowance, a contributory pension scheme and other benefits. As a Quantity Surveyor with this company you will be very much a name not a number, and you’ll be at the forefront of managing the financial aspects of Major Midlands projects, ensuring they’re delivered on time, within budget, and with an eye for quality. If you’re passionate about your craft and profession and are eager to continue growing your career within a proper supportive environment with an exceptionally friendly feel this is an excellent career move
