Role: Transport Operations Assistant
We are looking to recruit a Transport Operator on behalf of our client to work within their busy distribution department. Working within a team providing good and accurate communication to customers and drivers. Good geographical knowledge of the Southeast of England is preferable along with transport knowledge regarding legal compliance, drivers hours, vehicle dimensions, weights and capacity.
Main purpose of job
To meet UK Domestic customers' requirements for the safe and efficient transport of their cargo effectively and in accordance with company operational procedures and statutory requirements including Health & Safety to the satisfaction of clients and the profit of the company.
Tasks may include:
Prepare correct documentation to the Warehouse department for loading/offloading cargo to vehicles, in a timely manner.
Perform and correctly implement General Administration, e.g. invoicing; filing; queries; claims; check costs in accordance with departmental requirements.
Communicate efficiently and effectively with internal and external customers, Drivers, suppliers, and other offices.
Assisting planning or re planning of Distribution vehicles/ routes
Utilise vehicle fleet in the most effective way
Any reports/KPI's required
Covering the Distrubution planner during holiday periods
Essential Skills/Requirements:
Excellent Communicator
Good Customer Service
Proficiant in PC and Transport Operating Systems
Knowledge of Drivers Hours & Transport Regulations
Ability to multi-task under pressure
Problem solving
Work effectively as part of a team
Previous experience of routing HGV vehicles and knowedge of the south east region
Set hours of (Apply online only). Cover of early and late shift needed for staff Holidays five weeks a year.
