About the Role:
A supportive and inclusive primary school in Harborne is looking for a caring and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to provide one-to-one support for a pupil with Special Educational Needs (SEN). This is a key role, offering the chance to make a meaningful impact on a child’s educational and emotional development in a supportive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide dedicated one-to-one support to a pupil with SEN, adapting learning materials to meet their individual needs.
* Work closely with the class teacher to implement and follow tailored learning plans.
* Help the pupil develop academically, socially, and emotionally by creating a positive and encouraging environment.
* Support the pupil in managing their behaviour and emotional well-being.
* Foster independence and confidence in the child’s learning and daily activities.
* Collaborate with teachers, SENCO, and other professionals to monitor progress and provide feedback.
Qualifications & Experience:
* Minimum Level 2 or 3 qualification in a relevant subject (e.g., Supporting Teaching and Learning, Childcare, or SEND-specific qualifications).
* Experience working with children who have Special Educational Needs (SEN), ideally in a one-to-one setting.
* A calm, patient, and nurturing approach to working with children.
* Strong communication and teamwork skills.
* A commitment to promoting an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
Desirable:
* Previous experience in a primary school setting, particularly in one-to-one SEN support.
* Additional training in specific areas of SEND (e.g., Autism, ADHD, Speech and Language).
