The opportunity A fantastic opportunity has arisen to have the chance of joining a well-established UK engineering business as an experienced Civil/Structural Engineer. As the Civil/Structural Engineer you will be working as part of a multi-disciplinary engineering team where the primary purpose of the role is to directly support a major defence project. Employment Type: Contract This role has been deemed inside IR35 Location:  Remote | with occasional trips to site Your duties and responsibilities will be Authoring, development, assessment, maintenance and management of the suite of Design Substantiation documents. Authoring, development, assessment, maintenance and management of design changes/concessions Presentation of Design substantiations, to ‘Due Process’ nuclear safety committees Production and development of Examination, Inspection, Maintenance & Testing (EIMT) Schedule, operating procedures and results to satisfy design requirements and safety case through life Producing/assessing Periodic Review of Safety reports Providing advice and direction to internal and external stakeholders Production of Independent Technical Review (ITA)/Independent Peer Review (IPR) Use a combination of general and specialist engineering knowledge and understanding to apply existing and emerging technology Apply appropriate theoretical and practical methods to design, develop, manufacture, construct, commission, operate, maintain, decommission and re-cycle engineering processes, systems, services and products in a nuclear/high risk environment Producing robust technical justification to allow for relevant civil/structural design modifications to be authorised within a high hazard industry.You will have the following qualifications & experience Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the design assessment of reinforced concrete and steelwork structures to withstand dynamic loads including; earthquake motions, blast, wind, rain and snow loading Experience working on reinforced concrete and steelwork marine structures and jetties Experience of producing robust technical justification to allow for relevant civil/structural design modifications to be authorised within a high hazard industry Apply appropriate theoretical and practical methods to design, develop, manufacture, construct, commission, operate, maintain, decommission and re-cycle engineering processes, systems, services and products in a nuclear/high risk environment. Use a combination of general and specialist engineering knowledge and understanding to apply existing and emerging technology.The setting for the role Risks and Hazards are in line with working on a nuclear licenced site. These can include, nuclear fuel, radiation, chemicals and gasses, high voltage equipment, moving vehicles, flammable materials, high pressure circuits, steam, high noise and vibration levels. A full site induction will be provided and all safety requirements must be adhered to when entering the site.
