Graduate M&E Design Engineer


Employment type: Permanent, full-time

Salary: 28,000 - 30,000 per annum, dependent on experience

Location: Washington, Tyne and Wear. Hybrid working is available
Travel will be required to visit project sites.

Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday

  • Ground Source Heat Pump (GSHP) and Air Source Heat Pump (ASHP) systems
  • District and communal heating systems
  • Solar photovoltaic (PV) installations
  • Other low-carbon technologies


The Role:

Support the Lead Engineer and Senior Design Engineer with the development of energy-saving solutions.
  • Provide help from the initial idea to final stages of development.
  • Develop solutions to energy and water efficiency upgrade challenges.
  • Assist with site surveys and building reports for solution development.
  • Help provide project costs and quotations.
  • Produce and design calculations for different projects.
  • To be aware of the environmental aspects and impacts relevant to the work of the job holder as well as ensuring compliance with any environmental legislation that is applicable to the job.
  • Assist in optimising the design processes that are currently in place.
  • Ensure all aspects of new and ongoing projects are in line with up-to-date best practice industry standards.


Experience/Skills Required:
  • Recently graduated with a degree in Engineering. Preferably Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (other relevant degrees will be considered).
  • Knowledge and experience of using AutoCAD and Revit is preferable.
  • An interest in renewable/low carbon technologies.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to talk to clients.
  • Good time management skills.
  • Experience with MS Office (Excel and Word).
