Balfour Beatty VINCI is working with a range of organisations to design and build 90km West Midlands stretch of HS2 - Britain’s new high speed railway. Our work is essential to enable HS2 trains to travel between London and Birmingham . It’s an incredibly exciting time to join us - we’re at peak construction with work really ramping up on a broad range of assets including bridges, tunnels and viaducts. Plus you’d join 9,000 people across 72 nationalities working on this exciting section of HS2 across the region. We currently have an exciting opportunity to join our team as an Operations Controller within the Routewide Logistics Team. This role will be based on site in Kingsbury Birmingham . Role Responsibilities;  • Operational Oversight  - Oversee the daily operation of the workforce management system, ensuring all processes run smoothly and efficiently.  - Monitor system performance and usage, identifying areas for improvement and ensuring optimal functionality across the project.  - Coordinate and manage the activities of the Workforce Management System Administrators and Technicians, ensuring their tasks are aligned with project priorities. • Workload Prioritisation - Assess incoming tasks and inquiries, prioritising workload based on urgency, impact, and strategic importance.  - Allocate resources effectively, ensuring that the Workforce Management System Administrator and Engineering Technician focus on the most critical tasks.  - Adjust priorities dynamically in response to changing project needs and emerging issues. • Point of Contact  - Serve as the primary point of contact for all workforce management system-related inquiries, both within the team and from the wider management team.  - Provide guidance and support to team members, addressing any challenges they may encounter in their roles.  - Liaise with other departments and senior management to communicate system updates, performance reports, and any significant issues that arise. • Reporting and Analysis - Oversee the generation of regular and ad-hoc reports on workforce management system performance, usage metrics, and issue resolution. - Analyse data to identify trends, potential risks, and opportunities for system enhancement. - Present findings and recommendations to senior management, supporting informed decision-making. Experienced required Qualification in business administration, communication, IT or related field Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, Excel and Project in particular Proven experience in a operations management role, preferably within the construction or infrastructure sectors. Strong understanding of cloud-based systems and effective application in large-scale projects. Demonstrated experience in team leadership, workload prioritisation, and resource allocation. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on data-driven decision-making. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels. We started working together over 30 years ago to deliver the Channel Tunnel, as members of the TransManche Link consortium. Our work with HS2 Balfour Beatty VINCI have been awarded a 90km section of the HS2 project from Long Itchington in Warwickshire to the centre of Birmingham and then on to Handsacre in Staffordshire.
