Network Engineer

Network Engineer Industry: Defence/National Security Location: Basingstoke Onsite: Full time The Opportunity: For over 50 years, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) has partnered with this Firm to drive value and innovation across its strategic technology investments. As a Field Network Engineer, you’ll play a pivotal role in supporting Network Installation programmes for complex national security, intelligence, and military operations. The Role: You can expect to be hands-on - diving into technical requirements, running site surveys, updating network designs, and making sure everything's configured to perfection. You’ll troubleshoot, support live rollouts, and own the handover process. Your work isn’t just about the tech, it’s about delivering solutions that matter, making a real difference where it counts. Essential Requirements: Sole British National with SC or DV (Developed Vetting) Clearance. Strong knowledge of WAN connectivity, routing protocols, and both virtual and physical networking solutions. Experience in Network Physical Design, including survey, design, and approval. Ability to create full Logical Designs/Bills of Materials, with Build Guides and Work Instructions. Hands-on expertise in designing, configuring, and troubleshooting Juniper and Catapan networks. 3rd Line support experience for fault finding and resolution. Excellent communication skills, capable of decision-making and taking ownership of multiple stakeholders. Onsite Requirements/Travel: The working week is split across 2 days in Basingstoke and 3 days travelling to customer sites across the UK or abroad if required. Expenses will be covered and you will be eligible for OT or additional time off in lieu.
