Position - French Teaching Assistant


Key Responsibilities-


Duties

  • To be an adaptable, supportive, vigilant, positive and willing member of staff who enjoys working with children.
  • Assist in the educational and social development of pupils under the direction and guidance of the Class Teacher, Key Stage Lead and Head Teacher.
  • Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Programmes for pupils and help monitor their progress.
  • Provide support for individual pupils inside and outside the classroom to enable them to fully participate in activities
  • To read with children as required.
  • To assist children with snack and drinks including filling up children’s water bottles as required.
  • To serve meals and assist with supervising meal times.
  • Assist in providing a safe, homely, friendly and caring environment.
  • Provide Class Teachers with clear daily feedback on all intervention work with children and record the work that has been done appropriately.
  • Work in close partnership with Class Teachers and other members of staff at all times
  • Work with other professionals, such as speech therapists and occupational therapists, as necessary.
  • Assist class teachers with maintaining pupil records.
  • Support pupils with emotional or behavioural problems and help develop their social skills.
  • Assist with all lunchtimes and break-times
  • Door duty in the morning and afternoon
  • Contribute significantly to homework club and extra curricular clubs.
  • To run extra curricular clubs as needed.
  • Vigilantly supervise play of children on the Heath as well as inside the classroom.
  • Assist the class teacher in maintaining a clean and tidy classroom.
  • Regularly clean all classroom resources.
  • Ensure that all floors are clear and clean, ensuring spills are dealt with appropriately.
  • Assist the class teacher by clearing away resources efficiently at the end of the lesson.
  • Supervise structured activities during Summer School.
  • When assisting with the EYFS, engage with and enrich play with children.
  • When assisting with the EYFS, promote constructive educational play.


Language Lessons

( As applicable)

  • Demonstrate an excellent knowledge of the language which they are teaching.
  • Accurately plan, in line with the Heath House curriculum, one language lesson per class each week.
  • Provide appropriate and engaging lessons for each class.
  • Maintain good classroom discipline at all times and discuss behaviour with the class teacher as necessary.
  • Mark all work accurately, in line with the school Marking Policy.


Administrative Duties

  • Prepare and present displays of pupils’ work.
  • Support class teachers in photocopying and other tasks, in advance of the lesson they are required for, in order to support teaching.
  • To check and notify the office well in advance of essential resources running out.
  • Be vigilant in the use of IT equipment.
  • Undertake other duties from time to time as the Head Teacher requires.
  • Keep up to date with school policy documents.


Standards and Quality Assurance

  • Act in a professional manner at all times.
  • Support the aims, ethos and values of the school.
  • Set a good example in terms of dress, punctuality, attendance and behaviour, in and out of school.
  • Attend team and staff meetings.
  • Attend other relevant meetings as required.
  • Undertake professional duties that may be reasonably assigned by the Head Teacher.
  • Be proactive in matters relating to health and safety.
  • Undertake first aid duties as required.
  • Attend school events including, performances, fayres, Parents’ Evenings, trips, overnight residential trips, such as PGL, and Friends of Heath House meetings.
  • Make points clearly and effectively, allowing for the views of others.
  • Keep records effectively in relation to school expectations.


Other Duties

  • To undertake any other duties which may be regarded within the nature of the grading of the post, as specified by the Head Teacher.
  • The post holder must comply with the schools Health & Safety policy and Equal Opportunities Policy.
  • The post holder must take an active role in their own professional development, attending all appropriate training courses offered by Heath House.
  • Maintain the high expectations of Heath House and its parents regarding educational standards and behaviour.
  • Participate in arrangements made for job appraisals and reviews.
  • Expect a list of other duties that the Head Teacher may from time to time ask you to perform.
