Reports to Construction Director MAIN PURPOSE OF ROLE Management of estimating team. Co-ordination and programming of work winning and tendering between company business streams. Assigning estimating resource to required company department to help meet demand. Building and maintaining client relationships and identifying opportunities for new contracts. Further Specific Responsibilities: Allocate and manage tender enquiries, work in progress and subsequent quotations with the estimators. Understand specific project risks and opportunities in estimating.  Manage client expectations through the tender process. Follow up with clients to obtain feedback on quotations. Update CRM estimating tool when required and monitor estimators’ performance against this software. Attend client mid tender interviews and pre-let meetings with team members.  Arrange, prepare and present Estimators Handover meetings with other departments. Work with Seniors and Business Development Managers to target specific key clients and projects of interest to the company. Action feedback from CAR (Corrective Action Reporting) process and Project Close Out Meetings that are relevant to Estimating Manage supply chain tender opportunities and provide feedback on quotations e.g. to door suppliers. Assist Commercial staff in finalising sub-contract documents e.g. confirming drawing list, scope of works, divergence documents etc Consider and implement bundling opportunities in manufacture, preliminaries etc where to the betterment of the company and our clients. Consider and implement client rebate agreements where to the betterment of the company and our clients. Provide training to Estimators on terminology and systems where applicable.Other General Responsibilities: Corporate Management  Support knowledge share and learning to develop an innovative team philosophy.  Champion estimating processes and procedures on tenders to maximise returns in terms of profit and shareholder value. Work to improve the public perception of the company. Demonstrate and maintain a level of technical and commercial knowledge and work closely with the delivery team to review techniques and solutions to meet business and customer needs. Provide support to ensure that commercial position is protected using in depth understanding and experience of contractual, commercial, insurance and legal processes.  Early identification of business risks in projects.  Identification of business opportunities and establishment of register to ensure that maximum commercial advantage is achieved at the time of tender. Agree sales targets and margins and report to the board with achievements and forecasts. Help identify, manage, reduce unnecessary costs and inefficient activities. Help identify the supply chain based on an informed and well-developed understanding of the market.Team Management  Develop awareness to team of wider business plan objectives.  Work with team and Client to form strategy to secure profitable work. Establish meaningful goals and objectives. Ensure bid teams have a good commercial understanding and focus.Team Leadership Lead by example. Motivate. Delegate.  Maintain own knowledge base of company working practices and industry and assist development of other estimating staff. Support, guide and encourage to ensure successful tender delivery; motivate others as appropriate. Actively research issues to identify alternative solutions and implement appropriate measures. Consider alternatives - decision based on sound research, judgment, and experience.  Being Part of the Team Ability to effectively influence and negotiate. Develop ability to prioritise and balance workload. Work in a proactive manner to build client relationships and is responsive to customer needs. Maintain and extend relationships and contacts with customers and consultants to obtain tender feedback and identify new potential business opportunities.  Identify customer key drivers and determine optimum commercial approach that will bring mutual benefits to the company and the customer.Communications and Presentations Meet with clients on a regular basis to encourage negotiated sales. Take an active part in meetings to ensure effective outcomes. Communicate accurately, concisely and in a timely manner, whilst demonstrating effective listening.  Develop ability to alter style of communication to suit different audiences. Produce all work to a professional level that is clear, accurate and presentable.  Use wider business systems to produce accurate reports. Take an active role in developing and giving presentations where required.  Aid and contribute to third party dealings where required. Responsibility for the pricing tool operation, updates and validation rates
