We are currently looking for a Trainee Animal Technician to join our clients team at a Biological Services Facility in York. In this role, you'll support with animal welfare for researchers, as a trainee, you'll have the opportunity to learn the ins and outs of animal care, from husbandry to health checks and facility upkeep - Don't worry, you'll receive plenty of support and on-the-job training to make sure you feel confident in your role and understand the importance of your work. Basic Requirements: * Basic GSCE’s Qualifications is required. * Animal Care Qualification or genuine interest in the care of animals. * Practical experience caring for animals in a work or voluntary capacity is essential. * Husbandry experience with rodents is beneficial. * Excellent time management and communication skills, both written and verbal. * Ability to multitask and work as part of a team. * Good IT skills. * Willingness to undertake training in accordance with Home Office requirements. Duties and Responsibilities: * Conduct routine tasks according to standard operating procedures * Ensure animal welfare concerns are brought to the attention of the NACWO * Prepare items for autoclaving, loading, and emptying autoclave * Apply knowledge to solve routine problems and use initiative * Assist users, in the work area with the preparation of equipment and supply of consumables for scheduled activities * Understand, promote, and apply relevant COSHH and health and safety protocols ensuring procedures are always followed. * Liaise and cooperate with the team, BSF users and other departmental staff. * To actively demonstrate a commitment to professional development by continuing to advance knowledge, understanding and competencies Benefits: * Generous salary-related pensions schemes based on employee and employer contributions * An incremental pay spine * Child Care Allowance * Private medical and dental care at discounted rates * Award winning staff learning and development programme * Access to discounted goods and services Agenda and its clients only recruit people who are passionate about animal care and welfare, people with integrity who are honest and trustworthy and who have a great work ethic.
