Job Summary As a Process Engineering Technician, you will be part of the Operations Process Engineering team delivering and supporting robust processes for the Project, Process Architect and Operations teams. The role is primarily cleanroom based involving hands-on use of all equipment and processes relating to operation and development, with occasional involvement is other areas.Key Responsibilities:Day to day operation – Clean Room Process operation and development supportProcessing of R&D and manufacturing wafers and samples. Disposition of engineering held material to ensure engineering cycle time is reducedSupport Process Engineers in developing new processes and process optimization.Support early-stage characterisation of materials.Take responsibility for process development and improvement projects under guidance of the cell engineersSupport Engineers and the Equipment maintenance team and provide hands-on support for preventative maintenance, tool recoveries and equipment improvements.Review SPC data collection, and support engineers in fault finding special causesInterface between the Manufacturing team and the Process Engineers in relation to any equipment and process faults to ensure clear communication and that downtime is kept to a minimum.Assist the Manufacturing team in easing the process back into production following equipment and/or process downtime.Assist Process Engineers in the provision of documentation – Process Instructions, SPC procedures, OCAPs etc.Supports and leads 5S and continuous improvement activities.Supply operator training where required on Processes and Tools.Support Process Engineers in the commissioning of new equipment.Any other ad hoc duty as requested by the Process Engineering Team.Person Specification:Required:Good manual dexterity for handling InP wafers and samples.Minimum of 2 years hands-on cleanroom experience preferably including some of the following: Photolithography, Plasma processes – PECVD deposition, e-beam and sputter metal deposition. Wet chemical processing – acids and solventsKnowledge and experience of SPC processes and six sigma techniquesWorking knowledge of general office and data software – e.g., MS Word, ExcelDesired:Higher level technical qualification – HNC, HND equivalentExperience in running experiments in a scientific environment and collating and presenting results.Good working knowledge of InP based materials and processes.Knowledge of statistical analysis packages, e.g., Minitab is helpfulPersonal AttributesAble to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines – level headed, calm and considered.Proactive team player who is also capable of working independently.Positive attitude in working & learning and actively seeks to share ideas and information with colleagues.Attention to detail.Proven ability to work under own initiative, and to seek advice when required.Good communication and interpersonal skills.Flexible approach to working – work the hours to do the job.Supportive of the company culture and ethos.Additional Information• Candidates must be eligible to, and hold all relevant finalised paperwork, to live and work in the UK.
