Role Summary We are recruiting a Band 2 Ward Support Worker to be part of our Neonatal Ward Support Team. This is a Non Clinical Role.This is an essential role, working alongside our team to ensure that our babies and families receive the highest standard of care. You will assist in supporting the day to day running of a busy neonatal unit, ensuring that equipment is clean and available for use.About the Role For more information on the Job Description and Responsibilities please click the link below.More detail about the roleWe have a very spacious, purpose-built neonatal unit with 26 cots. You will join a highly skilled, motivated and supportive neonatal team. We are very proud to have been awarded Gold standard by UNICEF Baby Friendly Initiative and achieved BLISS Baby Charter accreditation. There are many training and development opportunities available to support the personal and professional development of all staff.Every day, you will make a huge difference to the lives of the people we care for, by supporting our team to deliver a high standard of care to our patients. This is a non clinical role with the following responsibilities: Daily stocking of clinical areas. Damp dust and tidy shelves. Include shelving behind cot spaces in ITU/HDU Put away clean linen daily including baby clothes. Responsible for cleaning incubators, cots and other equipment as per guidance provided and will include the use of Chlorine based products. Will be involved in in-service training for new staff into how to clean equipment. Kitchen responsibilities as per check list. Checking in and out of Breast Pump Equipment ensuring all equipment loaned out is returned prior to the discharge of a baby. Preparation of mother/baby rooms. Ensure resident parents are offered clean linen regularly. Seek help when changing beds. Answer telephone if nursing staff/ward clerk are unavailable. Relate messages to appropriate person. Check incoming stores, complete documentation and put stores away in correct cupboards Ensure a safe environment for staff and visitors. Report safety hazards when identified to the Nurse-in-Charge Report broken equipment when identified to the Nurse-in-Charge Attend fire lecture and manual handling lecture once a year. Undertake yearly appraisal. Ensure that equipment store rooms are regularly tidied and equipment accessible. Strict confidentiality concerning babies and their parents must be observed by the postholder. Our Healthcare Support Workers (HCSWs) form an essential and well-respected part of our healthcare teams across a number of dynamic settings; out in the community, in our acute hospitals or within our theatres teams to name just a few.You will quickly become a valued member of the team through our comprehensive training and induction programme and our commitment to learning and development will satisfy even the most ambitious person. Once you've completed your training, and gained the necessary experience you will progress along the salary scale.Working Pattern: Long shifts 07:30 - 20:00 (shorter shifts will be considered). Including a mixture of weekdays and weekends. If you join before this date, the pay award will be backdated to April 2024 or your start date, whichever is later.
