Job Title: Carpenter Location: Guildford Department: Facilities Management Reports to: Maintenance Supervisor Employment Type: Contract - ongoing Salary: £22 - £25 per hour Job Summary: My client is seeking a skilled and experienced Carpenter to join the maintenance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out a wide range of repair, maintenance, and refurbishment tasks across the site. The Carpenter will ensure that all work is completed to the highest standards. Key Responsibilities: Carpentry Work: Perform a wide range of carpentry tasks, including but not limited to door and window installation/repair, furniture assembly/repair, shelving, skirting, partition walls, and other woodwork. Measure, cut, shape, and assemble wood and other materials for construction and repair tasks. Install and repair locks, handles, hinges, and other fixtures. Refurbishment Projects: Participate in refurbishment projects, including renovations and modifications of existing structures. Collaborate with other trades and contractors to ensure smooth and efficient project completion. Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine materials required and the sequence of tasks. Safety and Compliance: Adhere to all health and safety policies, ensuring a safe working environment at all times. Conduct regular inspections and maintenance checks to identify potential hazards and repair needs. Ensure that all work complies with relevant building codes, regulations, and standards. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of work completed, including materials used and time spent on tasks. Report any issues or delays to the Maintenance Supervisor in a timely manner.Qualifications and Experience: Proven experience and track record working as a Carpenter. Relevant qualifications or certifications in carpentry or a related field. Experience in general maintenance tasks, including plumbing, tiling, plastering, and painting. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team. Excellent communication skills and a customer-focused approach. Knowledge of health and safety regulations and best practices. Must have UK driving licensePhysical Requirements: Ability to lift and carry materials and equipment.
