About the Role You will be able to effectively drive the risk management agenda across the Corporate Office part of the business, which includes the Communications, Public Affairs, ESG, CEO Office and Industry Engagement. You will use your strong understanding of risk to support and provide a strong second line challenge to the Corporate Office teams in their risk identification, management and mitigation activity.

What you'll be doing

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Risk Agenda: You will be responsible for actively engaging with the Business to drive the risk agenda for the teams you partner with.
  2. Read across and knowledge sharing: You will be responsible for sharing risk knowledge and insight with the First Line stakeholders in the Corporate Office teams you partner with and will also be responsible for knowledge sharing within the Second Line Risk Partner population.
  3. First Line Engagement: The Risk Partner supports the Executive Risk Partner for the Corporate Office in delivering on their risk management responsibilities, which include the identification of risks that might prevent the achievement of their objectives, the assessment and evaluation of risks against SWIFT's risk appetite and the risk mitigation definition when needed, as well as the quarterly risk monitoring. The role sits within the Second Line of Defence and carries an expectation to provide robust independent challenge to the business.
  4. Training: You will be responsible for day-to-day training of Corporate Office teams in the Risk Management Framework, providing coaching relating to risk identification, management and mitigation where necessary.
  5. Identification of risk themes: You will be responsible for using your risk knowledge to identify risk themes and will be responsible for sharing data and insights with the Corporate Office teams, risk partners and the CoE for reporting purposes. You will also be accountable for escalating material risks to the Executive Risk Partner for the Corporate Office.
  6. Data, MI and Monitoring: You will be responsible and accountable for challenging risk data produced by the Corporate Office teams, for providing risk data to the Risk Centre of Expertise, for monitoring key anticipated and evolving risks in the Corporate Office teams and will serve as an escalation point for key material risks that require more senior input.
  7. Reporting: You will be responsible for supporting quarterly risk reporting and monitoring reporting and providing such information to the CoE.
  8. Risk and Control Self-Assessments (RCSAs): You will be responsible for oversight, challenge, advice and support relating to the execution of RCSAs in the Corporate Office teams.
Knowledge & expertise:

You will be responsible for maintaining strong knowledge and understanding of the topics managed within the Corporate Office and risks pertaining to the Corporate Office teams.

Who you will be working with:

  • Our Executive Risk Partner for the Corporate Office - You will report into the Executive Risk Partner for the Corporate Office. You will support by providing insight and escalation on material risks that could have a significant impact on the business, where necessary.
  • Our Risk Partners - You will co-ordinate to ensure delivery of oversight, challenge and support and will collaborate with the other risk partners across the function to learn best practices.
  • Our Head of CoE - You will engage to establish a data-centric view on management reporting and decision analysis and will collaborate to learn best practices and evolve the risk frameworks and methodologies.
  • Our Head of Policy Governance Framework - You will collaborate to understand key policy changes and business impacts.
  • Our Head of Controls Testing - You will liaise to promote the control testing framework.

  • Corporate Office teams effectively supported and challenged in managing risk.
  • Risks across Corporate Office teams maintained within set Risk Appetite parameters.
  • Read-across of valuable information and risk insight effectively managed and fed back to the Business and the Risk Department.

Key Capability Requirements:

  • Technology: Has good knowledge about the products and services provided by financial services companies. Has working knowledge of the technologies, programmes and processes required to support the creation of business value and the risk landscape of individual products. Can apply this knowledge to contribute to the risk discussions related to a number of products.
  • Policy Oversight & Challenge: Good awareness of policy compliance and oversight processes.
  • Trusted Partner: During interactions with 1LOD and other stakeholders, can adapt messages based on the expectations and often uses examples and analogies that are meaningful to the audience. Delivers insight convincingly and with authority by drawing on previous experience.
  • Challenge: Is able to demonstrate an ability to provide strong independent challenge to the business.
  • Relationship Management: Actively seeks input from others and encourages diversity in opinions, even when diverging from own view. Proactively engages with other teams within SWIFT.
  • ERM Frameworks: Has a good understanding of and can identify risks. Can define risk appetite, risk impact and identify risk likelihood. Can define and apply the risk assessment process, the risk monitoring process and can measure risks against SWIFT's Risk Appetite at a detailed level across the risk reporting categories and their supporting risk areas.
  • Risk and Control Self-Assessments (RCSA): Has experience in the RCSA process, tools and frameworks. Can provide support to 1LOD in performing the control testing.
  • Problem Solving: Consistently displays creativity in seeking solutions to problems and applies experience in identifying potential problems in early stages. Uses effective approaches for choosing a course of action or developing appropriate solutions, that are consistent with available facts, constraints and probable consequences.
  • Influence: Develops a distinct strategy for engaging critical stakeholders. Consistently demonstrates an ability to link capabilities to specific, individual stakeholder objectives. Is comfortable including stories or qualitative aspects to a conversation.
  • Report writing: Is adept at creating strong reports capturing a Second Line opinion to a senior audience.
