Newly Weds Foods Banbury

The Banbury site has been part of the Newly Weds Foods family since 2010. During that time our employee team has grown, and we now employ over 250 people. We have a Bakery, Blend factory and a dedicated Gluten Free factory. We operate over a range of shifts in our production facilities, have on site services including a QA team, Engineers, Supply Chain, Logistics, Payroll and HR and we also have a dedicated on-site R&D team.


Main Function

The IT Support Technician will be responsible for providing 1st / 2nd line support for all end users based at the Newly Weds Foods factory in Banbury, UK. Their role is to maintain the successful day to day operation of IT functions across the site by ensuring problem resolution of internal information systems together with the provision of technical hardware and software support to all end users. This position will report directly to the IT Helpdesk Manager based in Ossett, UK

You will be qualified to degree level or equivalent in a food related discipline, have experience of concept development in a food manufacturing environment and be willing to undertake frequent travel within the UK and occasional travel overseas. You will have excellent communication, organisation, negotiation and problem-solving skills and will be a motivated self-starter. Please see the full job description for all other expectations.

Prime Responsibilities

  • Respond to all IT helpdesk tickets raised and reply in a professional, confident and timely manner as per IT KPI’s.
  • Provide 1st / 2nd line IT support to all end users covering hardware and software related problems. Escalate all other issues appropriately, where an enquiry cannot be resolved.
  • Arrange for external technical support where problems cannot be resolved in house where applicable.
  • Regular maintenance of Hardware (PC and Peripherals) for business continuity in a factory environment.
  • Ensure all system updates are performed on all end user equipment.
  • Ensure current ERP solution is operation from a manufacturing point of view.
  • Provide new starter inductions when required.
  • Maintain all IT related documentation.
  • Multi-site cover requiring travel and overnight accommodation in UK and mainland Europe.
  • Out of hours support provided on a rota basis to ensure 24/7 cover for Production.

Person Specification

  • Hold a relevant IT qualification.
  • Previous experience working in an IT support role would be advantageous.
  • Good communication, interpersonal and analytical skills.
  • Good technical resolution and problem-solving skills.

Terms and conditions include:

Salary – £33,000 - £39,000 depending on skills and experience

Location – Newly Weds Foods, Banbury

Working hours / pattern – 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday

Pension – 3% paid via salary sacrifice, saving you tax and NI contributions

Annual Salary Reviews – an annual pay review is conducted every January
