An exciting opportunity for an experienced Project Manager who has worked within the Energy Sector to lead the Project team delivery key infrastructure projects across the UK.


Scope of Role

The project manager will be a key player in driving successful project outcomes within our business. The PM will be responsible for planning, executing, and closing projects. You will play a vital role in leading the successful project delivery on behalf of the company by ensuring that the relevant team members are fully appraised of the project parameters and have the capability and resources necessary to achieve contract objectives.

You will be responsible for developing positive relationships across the project stakeholder group and ensure that each project is delivered on time, within budget and to the agreed quality whilst ensuring that client expectations regarding quality, programme, and budget are wherever possible exceeded.


Day to day, your role will involve:

· Involvement in projects at all stages from pre-qualifying, tendering through to completion.

· Oversee all aspects of the project ensuring the company is fully appraised of the contract parameters.

· Initiate the project – Develop project plan based on project/ business requirements including engagement with management, stakeholders and clients.

· Formulate a detailed project plan.

· Set deadlines, assign responsibilities, monitor, and summarise progress of project as required.

· Ensuring that the contract is executed in accordance with the requirements of:

o All applicable legislation

o The Terms and Conditions of the contract

o The Contract Health and Safety Plan

o The Contract Quality/Environmental Plan

· Delivery of the contract within programme and budget including continued end of life cost forecasting and cashflow.

· Management of change working with the design commercial and planning teams including the preparation and agreement of project Early warnings, CEs and Variations.

· Adopt measures that identify and minimise risk.

· Control and management of sub contract resources to the highest levels of safety, quality and efficiency.

· The promotion of a continuous improvement culture and the use of best practice.

· The continuous monitoring of contract progress to ensure contract objectives are being met.

· Ensuring that, in conjunction with the wider Project Delivery Team, changes to the contract are identified, agreed and effectively managed.

· Management of change working with the design commercial and planning teams including the preparation and agreement of project Early warnings, CEs and Variations.

· Ensuring that all relevant issues, which cannot be resolved at contract level, are passed for the attention of the Chief Commercial Officer

· To proactively promote the Company and its capabilities to clients.

· You will be working autonomously on a day to day basis whilst working closely with the Design, Engineering and shop floor teams.


Main Duties and Responsibilities

· Conduct and participate in project start-up meetings

· Setting realistic goals and project milestones

· Planning the project and reporting progress using Microsoft Project

· Support in the preparation of RAMS working with the operations, quality, construction teams and subcontractors.

· Support the preparation of ITPs working with the design, operations, quality and construction teams, suppliers and subcontractors,

· Support the preparation of lift plans working with the design, operations, quality, construction teams and subcontractors,

· Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies

· Engage with clients and suppliers to understand project requirements and expectations and give regular updates.

· Support and motivate the broader team giving clear direction to maximise productivity and ensure delivery of projects on time.

· Monitor and manage project spend in line with budget

· Conduct regular project audit and review to assess progress

· Reporting project updates and highlighting issues to Chief Commercial Officer

· Chairing project review meetings and supplier/ subcontract kick off meetings.

· Project Site visits and meetings.

· Meetings and visits to suppliers and subcontractors.

· Chair project close out meetings and lessons learnt.

· Ensure compliance with company processes and IMS


Skills, Knowledge and Attributes

· Proven experience in project management with a successful track record of delivering projects on time and within scope

· Strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills.

· Excellent organisational and time-management abilities.

· Familiarity with project management tools and software including MS Project.

  • Client facing: 5 years (required)
  • strong leadership, communication: 5 years (required)
  • Power Transmission & Distribution: 1 year (preferred)
  • NEC, JCT, Fidic or Ichem contracts: 1 year (required)
