Pathways to Property – Advisory Board Member About: Launched in 2012, the Pathways to Property project continues to deliver on its aims to widen access to the real estate and planning profession by raising awareness of and aspirations about the vast range of careers available within the sector. Led by the Reading Real Estate Foundation (RREF) at Henley Business School, University of Reading, the project was established as a response to the recognised lack of diversity in the industry. Through a successful outreach programme, the project exposes students from less advantaged and non-traditional backgrounds to opportunities within the property industry. In addition, the project works with teachers and career advisors to provide them with valuable information about the industry which can be passed onto their students. What: We have a strategic project board in place for Pathways to Property to maintain links between the Pathways to Property Project Board and the industry, as well as drive the strategic direction of the project to meet our aims and objectives. Why: As part of this next cycle, we would like to secure 2-3 industry figures (not necessarily from traditional Real Estate backgrounds) to act as Advisory Board Members. Main Duties: As an Advisory Board Member you would have 2 key roles: To be ambassadors for the project, willing to act as spokespeople and support/represent the project in awareness-raising activities (such as press interviews, speaker opportunities etc) towards the industry; and To input into the strategic direction of the project and maintain accountability against key aims and objectives. Terms of Reference: To establish and lead the Pathways to Property project, ensuring that the aims and objectives of the project remain relevant and representative of the industry needs. To propose measures for the advancement and extension of the outreach and access work of the Reading Real Estate Foundation to attract a more diverse cohort and greater number of students from disadvantaged, non-traditional backgrounds to enter the property sector. To receive regular reports from the Programme Delivery Manager on the progress of the project. To fulfil its requirements as a sub-committee of the Reading Real Estate Foundation Board of Trustees, the Pathways to Property Project Board shall report to the Boards of Trustees of RREF and Head of School, Real Estate & Planning on matters of policy and resource in relation to access and outreach. To support the aims and objectives of the project and its activities; including promoting further industry engagement (fundraising, work experience, volunteering, event hosts) and attending events and meetings where appropriate. Term of Appointments: The Advisory Board Members will be appointed for a term of three years, renewable on agreement of the Chair, RREF Executive Director and member. Advisory Board Members can be appointed for up to two consecutive terms of office. Meetings: The Board will meet three times a year in London. Advisory Board Members agree to take it in turns to host meetings at their company offices. You: Pathways is all about diverse representation and therefore we are looking for applications from people representing all different backgrounds, genders, and ages. It is important that we have broad representation at the board level to ensure we deliver the best results for our students.
