In the role of Onsite Instrumentation Engineer – Chromatography & Mass Spectrometry:


  • Act as the first response to Chromatography, Mass Spectrometry & Laboratory Automation equipment breakdowns ensuring all critical science and operations are protected
  • Working with the key equipment users, wider engineering team and suppliers to ensure that all key laboratory instrument platforms are operationally functional to support the customers science needs
  • Adhere to agreed Service Level Agreements and support team to exceed Key Performance Indicators
  • Develop and implement a proactive maintenance regime for the equipment that supports our client’s customised platforms
  • Working with the scientific teams, make recommendations for how best to optimise system performance through service data insights
  • Carryout on-going system performance analysis based upon error logs, live run interventions and root-cause analysis & trending of errors to mitigate their reoccurrence
  • Develop innovative support solutions that bring value to our customer
  • Cross train for wider engineering support within onsite servicing team
  • Adopt and champion new technologies to improve response and resolution time for client
  • Take ownership of workload, parts inventory, safety and quality compliance protocols
  • Maintain awareness of new developments in their field of Laboratory Automation


The requirements of the Onsite Instrumentation Engineer – Chromatography & Mass Spectrometry:


  • 2+ years experience as a Field Service Engineer or Onsite Engineer with experience servicing and repairing Chromatography equipment (HPLC, GC, LC) from OEMs such as Waters, Agilent, Thermo Fisher & Shimadzu
  • You could also be a high level expert Chromatography/Mass Spectrometry equipment trouble-shooter in the laboratory wanting to progress your career in a fast-paced Chromatography & Mass Spectrometry Onsite Service Engineer role Experience servicing Mass Spectrometry (GCMS/LCMS) equipment is highly desirable
  • Experience in maintaining scientific laboratory instrumentation or automation technologies
  • Pharmaceutical / Regulated working background
  • Previous experience of working in multidisciplinary customer facing teams
  • Advanced Technical Skills in the field of expertise or Experience of servicing scientific equipment
  • Driving Continuous Improvement and innovative solutions
  • Good Understanding of device networking and communications protocols
  • Excellent PC and Microsoft tools skills
