My client is offering an exciting opportunity for a Senior Pensions Lawyer to join the Group Corporate Treasury legal team on a fixed-term contract for 6 to 12 months. In this role, you will provide high-quality legal and strategic advice on Group pensions matters and related transactions. You’ll work closely with various stakeholders, serving as a senior subject matter expert within a supportive and collaborative team.The team is a blend of capital markets and pensions specialists, all committed to delivering strategic legal counsel and innovative solutions. The work supports the Group’s core strategy through partnerships with GCT business, Risk, People & Places, and Legal & Secretariat teams. A highly experienced and supportive group, offering ample opportunities for professional development.The RoleIn this role, you’ll provide expert legal support to both GCT Pensions and People & Places. GCT manages the Group’s balance sheet and capital in alignment with the Group strategy, while P&P focuses on making LBG a great place to work, enabling us to better serve our customers and communities. The role offers a broad and diverse range of responsibilities, including:Offering strategic and technical legal advice on Group pensions to senior management and executives.Negotiating with Trustee advisers and external counsel on corporate transactions and restructurings.Assisting with the Group’s governance processes concerning pension liabilities.Drafting and reviewing pension documents such as scheme rules, funding documents, settlement agreements, and court documents.Handling correspondence with regulators like the Pensions Regulator, the Pensions Ombudsman, and the PRA.Reviewing media and company-related statements.Supporting corporate programmes, projects, and pension-related disputes or litigation in partnership with the Group’s litigation experts.Additionally, we expect you to contribute positively to our people, culture, and strategy, bringing your energy and ideas to help us innovate and future-proof our work processes.The RequirementsYou must have a current UK legal practicing certificate and ideally 8+ years of PQE.
