Join Our Team as a 1:1 Individual Needs Assistant – OFSTED Rated 'Outstanding' Primary School Location: Brighton Job Title: Individual Needs Assistant (Year 4) Hours: Full-time, 08:30 to 15:30 Are you passionate about making a meaningful difference in the life of a child who faces emotional and social challenges? We are looking for a compassionate and empathetic Individual Needs Assistant to work 1:1 with a Year 4 girl who has Autism Spectrum Condition, Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs, and attachment challenges stemming from trauma. This role is based at an Outstanding Ofsted-rated primary school, offering a supportive and inclusive environment where you will help guide this child in both her personal development and academic progress If you have experience in supporting children with mental health needs, a deep understanding of trauma, and a nurturing, patient approach, we would love to hear from you. Key Responsibilities: Provide 1:1 support to a Year 4 girl with ASC, SEMH needs, and attachment challenges. Foster a trusting relationship to help the child feel safe and secure in the school environment. Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement tailored support plans. Assist the child in managing emotional and behavioural difficulties in and out of the classroom. Create a nurturing and calm space for the child to access learning while considering her mental health needs. Encourage social interaction, emotional regulation, and positive behaviour. Essential Experience/Attributes: Experience working with children who have ASC, SEMH needs, or attachment issues. Understanding of mental health challenges in children, including trauma-informed approaches. A DBS check registered on the update service or willingness to obtain one. A patient, empathetic, and nurturing approach, with the ability to build strong relationships. Strong communication and teamwork skills, working closely with staff to support the child’s individual needs. Understanding of safeguarding and confidentiality policies.
