This innovative food startup is launching a new concept in South-East London, offering a premium menu of authentic barbecue and modern bodega-style subs and sandwiches. They are seeking an experienced Kitchen Manager & Chef to lead their culinary operations in Peckham.
Position Overview
As the Kitchen Manager, you will play a pivotal role in the success of this new venture. You will oversee all aspects of kitchen operations, from inventory management and food preparation to staff training and customer satisfaction. Your leadership and culinary expertise will ensure the consistent delivery of high-quality, authentic, and mouthwatering comfort food that defines the brand.
You'll be the leader of the kitchen, bringing the energy for your team to bounce off and you'll be responsible for mainaining a high standard of quality, ensuring every order is flawless. This role is ideal for an experienced sous chef looking for their first kitchen manager opportunity.
Responsibilities
Manage pantry, inventory, and food storage and preparation to maintain quality standards
Supervise and guide kitchen staff to deliver timely, quality food and exceptional customer service
Order kitchen materials and ingredients based on menu and market demand
Maintain a clean and safe working environment, ensuring compliance with preventive maintenance measures
Collaborate with Restaurant Managers on menu development, pricing, and portion sizes
Schedule shifts based on business hours, days, and occasions
Train employees on safe operation of kitchen equipment, proper handling of materials, and health & safety regulations
Recruit, coach, and develop the kitchen team to foster a skilled and motivated workforce
Control operational costs to keep within budget
Requirements
Proven experience as a Kitchen Manager or similar role in a fast-paced restaurant environment
Culinary expertise with knowledge of authentic barbecue and bodega-style cuisine
Strong leadership and mentoring skills to guide and develop a customer-focused kitchen team
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities to collaborate with various stakeholders
Knowledge of health & safety regulations and best practices in kitchen operations
Self-motivated with a passion for delivering outstanding food quality and customer satisfaction
