Shift Team Leader - Biomass Power Station

Astute's Power team is partnering with a leading power company to recruit a Shift Team Leader for its site biomass power station near Scunthorpe.

The Shift Team Leader role comes with a salary of 54,000 + benefits package including private medical insurance.

Responsibilities and duties

Reporting to the Operations Manager you will:

• Day-to-day leadership of the shift operations team who will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the plant.
• Ensuring the plant is operating within its parameters whilst complying with strict HSE rules and regulations as well as company policies and procedures.
• Managing the sites safety systems including the permit to work system and acting as a HV Senior Authorised Person for the purpose of issuing permits, switching, and carrying out isolations.
• Providing technical supervision and assistance where necessary for company and contract staff engaged in work.
• Providing effective training and monitoring of shift staff to ensure personnel are competent to undertake their duties.
• Providing effective administration and application of safe systems of work and Health and Safety policies

Professional qualifications

We are looking for someone with the following:

• Ideally have a NVQ level 3 or HNC minimum qualification in a relevant engineering discipline
• At least 5 years working knowledge in the operations of a power station
• Being HV Senior Authorised Person will be highly advantageous, a strong understanding of safety rules is essential
• Ideally have a formal Health and Safety qualification such as IOSH or NEBOSH

• Ability to work a shift rota including days and nights
• Ability to work well alone or within a team
• Driven with the desire to achieve
