We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join the team in a welcoming SEN college. The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting post-16 students with PMLD and complex needs. You will work closely with teaching staff, therapists, and medical professionals to provide tailored support, ensuring the physical, emotional, and educational well-being of the students.
The college is only open Monday-Thursday, so you can enjoy work life balance with a 3 day weekend!
Key Responsibilities:
Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with PMLD, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
Assist in the implementation of personalized learning plans, adapting materials and resources to meet individual needs.
Support students with personal care, including feeding, toileting, and mobility assistance.
Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team, including teachers, therapists, and healthcare professionals, to support the holistic development of each student.
Implement strategies to manage and de-escalate behaviours of concern, following the college's behaviour support plans.
Monitor and record student progress, contributing to assessments and reviews.
Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge.
Foster a positive, inclusive, and respectful learning environment.
About You:
Experience working with individuals with PMLD, complex medical needs, or behaviours of concern is highly desirable.
A caring and patient nature, with a genuine passion for supporting students with SEN.
Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and families.
A proactive and flexible approach, with the ability to adapt to the changing needs of students.
Relevant qualifications, such as NVQ Level 2/3 in Health and Social Care, SEN, or equivalent, are advantageous but not essential.
Willingness to undertake additional training, including behaviour management and medical training.
