Senior Product Design Engineer

JOB DESCRIPTION:Laundry is something everyone on the planet needs to do, yet it hasn’t evolved for nearly a century.6.6 billion people live without modern access, forcing them to either do laundry by hand or share a few machines with hundreds of other people. Not to mention that doing laundry today is incredibly annoying, time consuming, and detrimental to the planet.We are Paradigm Evergreen, the company evolving how humanity does laundry by reinventing traditional machines and breaking down the high barriers that alienate billions from home laundry access.We are achieving that through our inaugural product, Eeva, which is the first to enable universal access, so anyone in the world with just a standard electrical outlet can now have a fully autonomous washer/dryer at home, regardless of space or infrastructure. Leveraging our innovative technology, we are also able to achieve ~60% reduction in water and energy consumption, having a gigantic impact on climate change.We have already sold more than $1m in revenue and recently raised millions in seed funding to take this innovative product from early stage development, to worldwide impact.We are a small and growing team with big ambitions, based in Battersea, London. We are looking for a dynamic/resourceful crew member to join us on this mission to reinvent laundry and help build this impact company from the ground up.Are you in?JOB OVERVIEW:With advanced prototypes now well underway we are in a critical stage to finalise the design of our flagship product, Eeva. With our growing engineering team we are refining our design for assembly and manufacture strategy, benchmarking the consumer touchpoints and detailing the product for tooling release. We want our solutions to be smart, robust and cost effective with a clear vision of efficient manufacturing.We need a candidate with ownership, creativity and an eye for finesse to finalise the development of Eeva, and lead development efforts for our roadmap. As part of the development journey, you will also assist with the transition from R&D to production, providing solutions in the UK office with occasional trips to our contract manufacturer in Asia. We work five days in-office and are located just a 5 minute walk from Battersea Power Station.What we would love you to have:An engineering or technical background, with at least 10-15 years experience in product developmentStraight up curiosity for how things work, or even could workEnd to end experience in the product development process, many times overPassion for user centred design, to ensure our customers have a world class experience A strong collection of anecdotes of how you got that product into productionDetailed oriented CAD skills to build production ready work packages in 2D & 3DSolidworks CAD expertiseMastery of Design For Manufacture & Assembly (DFMA) and Design Failure Modes & Effect Analysis (DFMEA) methodologies (because it’s all about the detail)A self-starter mindset, to understand what needs doing and figure the rest out along the wayA roll your sleeves up attitude when met with challengesTeam spirit, respect and collaborative workingWhat would be even better:Experience with either laundry, air, heat, or water based products (coffee, vacuum, hairdryer, fans etc)Experience with pumps, valves, heaters and fan-based systemsExperience collaborating with overseas suppliersDelivery of products for the North American marketClear and recent understanding of testing requirementsUnderstanding of tolerance stacksExperience of product release for international variantsHere’s what you’ll get in return:Top of the market salary (let’s talk about it)Company equity optionsRelocation bonus (we want the best talent)Enrolment in our company pension schemeAn unsurpassed learning curve for your careerThe opportunity to work with a group of experienced, talented, passionate people who are changing the world
