Hardware Engineer - Modem Systems
+ 12 month contract
+ Portsmouth based with some remote working
+ SC Cleared role
Key Skills:
+ RF/Analogue & Digital skills
+ Military level design
Leading the development of specialised satellite modem hardware for secure and resilient communications links.
Main responsibilities:
+ User needs capture, requirements analysis and design response at sub-system (chassis) and module (circuit board layout) levels;
+ support through procurement, manufacture and integration phases, both with in-house departments and 3rd party suppliers;
+ acceptance testing (and fault diagnosis) at module and integrated unit levels;
+ environmental qualification testing.
The resulting output will include a manufacturing pack that can be handed to a third-party fabrication plant for board manufacture and final assembly.
Applicants should have a broad range of experience with mixed-signal (RF/analogue and digital) electronics design, including:
- Experience in designing to meet Military-level design and test standards (Mil-Std 810) at both circuit board and unit level
- Experience in designing to meet the regulatory environment related to achieving CE/UKCA marks on end products (e.g. RoHS/REACH/EN62368), including the production of evidential documentation.
- Testing and diagnosis of the resulting circuit boards in the final installation.
- Generation of Test documentation (both Design Proving and Production Level) for both individual circuit boards and the integrated unit.
It would be advantageous for the successful candidate to have:
- Familiarity with Aircraft-level design and test standards (DO-254/DO-178/DO-160)
- Generation of schematic design and circuit board layout design for both digital and RF circuit boards in Mentor Graphics.
- Familiarity with Model-Based System Design techniques
- A background knowledge/interest of satellite communication systems/industry or Modem technology
