Position Summary


  • To support and lead design, build and maintain systems for reliability, availability, scalability and performance.
  • To develop, maintain and improve tools and scripts for system backups, monitoring and performance analysis.
  • Perform system design and architecture, trouble shooting and debugging. Monitor and maintain existing systems, servers and applications.


Responsibilities


Main Role and Activities


  • To develop FMEA processes for existing and new machines and equipment establishing MTTF and MTTR matrices.
  • To use effectively performance data analysis to predict failures and prevent them before they cause downtime.
  • Use performance evaluation tests to find and eliminate potential safety and production risks.
  • Find recurring equipment failures and perform root cause analysis to understand them and recommend corrective actions.
  • To help and develop the maintenance team to develop predictive and proactive maintenance strategies that improve equipment reliability.
  • Collaborate with other stakeholders within the business to maintain and ensure the reliability of new equipment or modified assets and installations.
  • Measure and optimize system performance of key equipment.
  • Develop a strategy for a life cycle management process predicting replacement and a cost profile supporting the business finances.
  • To actively encourage and push for continuous improvement to anticipate the business and customer needs.
  • Participate in the development process for the installation of any custom machine requirements and specifications.
  • Provide support to production teams to ensure asset utilization and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE)

  • Deliver Maintenance & Reliability solutions in relation to defined requirements, across the full engineering lifecycle.
  • To maintain and ensure site facilities are always maintained and fully functional.
  • Effective stakeholder management, engaging and influencing others to drive improvements across the business.
  • Identify and support opportunities for cost savings, efficiency and business improvement, supporting operational excellence initiatives.
  • Using KPI's to ensure work remains on track and performance is measured on a consistent and regular basis.
  • The ability to solve a range of technical problems that may be mechanical, electrical or control, then make the necessary decisions to rectify and prevent repeats.
  • Ability to communicate and present reports with others on technical requirements and modifications.
  • Concise and managed calibration, cleaning, pre-run checks of machinery.
  • Support to all business functions within the business.


Other Activities


  • Maintaining 5’s standards of environment when maintenance support operational activities.
  • To carry out housekeeping within your area of responsibility, ensuring areas are clean and tidy, thus maintaining a safe workplace.
  • Lead/participate in failure mode effects analysis of critical assets and key systems.
  • Reporting of non-conformances, machine issues, maintenance requests, to maintenance department.
  • To undertake all necessary machinery checks to ensure the process and equipment are running effectively without disruption ensuring robust manufacture.
  • To ensure that all equipment calibration is within date and working effectively ensuring up-to-date certification is valid.


Education level and/or relevant experiences


  • Ideal: - bachelor’s degree or master’s degree in engineering.
  • Required: - recognised Engineering-related qualification (NVQ level 4/HNC ideal) and a strong maintenance engineering background (the hiring manager is flexible on discipline)


Knowledge and skills

  • Understanding of extrusion/compounding/blow film equipment would be beneficial.
  • Skills in both mechanical and electrical disciplines would be favourable.
  • Understanding of TPM processes and techniques.
  • Knowledge of ATEX requirements would be required.
  • Energetic mindset & willingness to develop the equipment and process.
  • Attention to detail and knowledge of Ishikawa / 5Y problem identification and resolution tools.
  • Willingness to expand own engineering skills and experience relevant to engineering domain.
  • Knowledge & experience of Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (Shire) would be highly beneficial to support analysis activities.
  • ·     Knowledge of Scada data transfer and control would be desirable.
  • ·       Preferable - IT conversant “Microsoft Office” particularly excel.
