M&E Preconstruction Director Location: Central London Salary: £100,000 + Full Travel + Pension + Bonus (Discretionary) The Company: Our client is an established contractor throughout the UK and have made a name for themselves across the construction industry, operating mainly in the Commercial sector. Our client has over 20+ years on industry experience and due to consistent project wins, they’re looking to expand their team. As a company, they utilise their own in-house modularisation & fabrication facilities and have ensured some of the largest mechanical engineering projects are provided on time and on budget. Since their formation, the business has grown considerably, and they’ve been successful in securing a number of high-profile schemes. The Role: Based in London, the successful candidate will be responsible for managing the bid function, including overseeing client engagement and managing the estimating team. You will be involved in the process from initial enquiry, assessment of projects, pre-bid through to post tender meeting. You will have 4 M&E estimators directly reporting into you and will ensure that strong relationships are kept across active clients, liaising with the directors and ensuring active communication methods across all parties. Projects taken on usually range from £5m - £40m MEP value. Roles and Responsibilities: * Accountability for team to producing detailed estimates in a timely and efficient manner. * Assessing internal & external risk, as well as client risk. * Chairing strategy meetings on bid approaches. * Overseeing bid management – both internal and external meetings. * Ensuring there is strong bid/no bid assessment strategy. * Establishing and maintaining relationships clients, contractors and suppliers. * Assessing the risk levels associated with the project. * Production of the tender settlement book and presenting to the Directors for sign off. * Resolving post tender queries * Management of estimating team * Leading a team of 4 estimators in preparing estimates and cost planning for a portfolio of projects, adhering to estimating procedures. * Accountable for compiling team and preliminaries schedules and collaborating with internal and external teams as and when required. * Oversee the quality assurance of estimates within the project ensuring they are fit for purpose. * Presents the estimate work to key stakeholders demonstrating a full knowledge and understanding of the project. * Provides senior management and stakeholders with estimating analysis insight, modelling scenarios solutions and options, leveraging commercial knowledge
