Recruit4staff are proud to be representing their client, One of the UK's leading Shipbuilding and repair companies, in their search for experienced Plater to work in Birkenhead For the successful Plater our client is offering: Hourly rate of £19.22 per hour (PAYE) Overtime paid at x1.5 (£28.83) & x2 (£38.44) Core Working hours Monday - Friday 8:00am to 4:30pm, with a 2:30pm finish on Friday Overtime available after core hours & weekends DIGs available for out of town candidates Long-term temporary position Holiday pay Pension - Auto enrolment after 3 months Opportunities for candidates to become permanent depending on performance The role - Plater: Fabricating and welding structural components. Plate perpetration, using different methods (Oxy – fuel gas cutting & Hand Grinding), pressure testing, drilling & lock fitting Fit, fair and tack weld steelwork Reading and interpreting engineering drawings. Operating various tools and machinery. Moving the plates into position for assembly, using chains, cranes and hoists Assembling the parts into a structure, usually by welding it, but sometimes using bolts and rivets Finishing off the assembly, using tools like grinders and polishers to smooth the surface Ensuring high-quality standards are met. Following health and safety protocols What our client is looking for in a Plater: City & Guilds/NVQ or equivalent in fabrication or welding / Plating - BENEFICIAL Proven expertise in fabrication and welding. ESSENTIAL Proven experience in the Marine / Nuclear / Steel fabrication / Off-shore / Petro-chemical or Construction industries - ESSENTIAL Significant experience in marine/ship repair - BENEFICIAL Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
