TEACHER OF SEN TEACHER OF SEN LEARNING SUPPORT with Additional Associate SENDCO responsibilities Salary - (Inner London Allowance plus allowance for Associate position) Start Date January 2025 Location Brent Permanent and Full time For a January 2025 start we require an enthusiastic, well qualified and creative teacher of SEN Learning Support who is also able to take on responsibilities in a training role of Associate SENDCO. The successful candidate will contribute to the work of a well-established and successful Learning Support Department. The successful candidate will work as part of a team to develop, plan and deliver a range of strategies and programmes in a variety of learning environments to ensure our students achieve their potential. Main Tasks and Responsibilities: As a member of the SEN department the teacher will: Support the schools mission, vision and strategic objectives; Implement the schools equal opportunities policies and to work actively to overcome discrimination on grounds of race, sex, disability, sexuality, age or status; Participate in staff development; Implement the schools health and safety policies and practices; Contribute to the schools commitment to continuous improvement as identified in the schools development plan. Participate in school wide projects and tasks. Responsibilities particular to the Learning Support Teacher post The successful candidate will be required to support personalised learning in a variety of educational contexts, including the following: Teaching students with SEN to help maximise their learning potential and to meet objectives identified in Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCP) and Individual Plans. Assisting with organising and providing exam support for Key Stage 3, GCSE and A level students. Assessing and tracking the progress of students receiving additional support from the Learning Support department Helping the development of an alternative curriculum for students experiencing barriers to learning. Teaching skills based programmes. Working alongside different curriculum areas in the planning and delivery of support; differentiating materials for SEN learners as appropriate. Liaising with professionals such as educational psychologists, psychiatrists, other health professionals and social workers to explore strategies to support vulnerable students. Working alongside other teachers and Teaching Assistants within the Learning Support department to best support the needs of students with additional needs within this school Conducting Annual Reviews for pupils with EHCPs. Qualification Criteria Qualified to degree level and above in the relevant subject. Qualified to teach in the UK, PGCE, or similar. Experience Teachers of all levels of experience including ECTs are welcome to apply for general teacher posts. Teaching and Learning Excellent classroom practitioner (whose lessons are rated as good or above consistently). Effective and systematic behaviour management, with clear boundaries, sanctions, praise and rewards. Has good communication, planning and organisational skills. Demonstrates resilience, motivation and commitment to driving standards of achievement. Commitment to regular and on-going professional development and training to establish outstanding classroom practice. Has a passion for teaching students with additional needs. Results orientated. Relentless drive to do whatever it takes to ensure all students succeed. The courage and conviction to make a difference. Knowledge and experience, or the desire to gain knowledge and experience, of supporting children with additional needs, for example with numeracy and literacy skills, and social communication skills.
