Quantity Surveyor - Steelwork Contractor - Essex

A well-established company based in Essex with years of experience in the architectural and secondary steelwork industry is seeking a Quantity Surveyor to join their busy team.

We are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to oversee the financial management of architectural metalwork projects from initial tender to final account. In this role, you will handle cost planning, contract administration, and procurement, ensuring each project is delivered on time and within budget. Your background in a main contractor environment will be crucial for managing both pre- and post-contract stages effectively.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare accurate cost estimates and set budgets for metalwork projects.
  • Manage project costs to maintain financial efficiency and profitability.
  • Oversee procurement and negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Administer contracts, assess variations, and handle final accounts.
  • Provide regular financial reports and analysis to stakeholders.
  • Work closely with project teams and clients to ensure smooth project delivery.
What We're Looking For
  • 3-5 years of experience as a Quantity Surveyor, ideally within a main contractor setting, with a solid understanding of construction processes.
  • Experience in architectural metalwork, steelwork, or related sectors is advantageous but not required.
  • Strong skills in financial management, negotiation, and contract administration.
  • Excellent interpersonal abilities to liaise with clients, subcontractors, and project teams effectively.
  • Ability to manage risk, quickly adapt to changing conditions, and offer practical solutions.
  • Bachelor s degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field. Alternatively, a Higher National Diploma (HND) in construction or a related discipline with relevant experience.
