Owen Mumford are hiring for a Health, Safety & Environmental Manager to join the team. Could this be your next role?
The Health Safety & Environment Manager is responsible for development and delivery of Health, Safety and Environmental Management within Owen Mumford to and ensure Health, Safety and Environmental compliance is maintained in line with current legislation and Owen Mumford requirements.
Whilst recognising that HS&E must be performed and lead by managers and associates, provide guidance, support, procedures, tools and training to ensure the effective proactive management of HS&E to ensure improvement and maintenance of high standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and maintain compliance with all applicable Health, Safety and Environmental Legislation
Formulate, develop and review policies, procedures and other guidance necessary to ensure compliance.
Develop all the supporting and required documentation, operational checks and reports for the HS&E Management Systems to be compatible with OHSAS 18001 and ISO 14001.
Develop a reporting system to ensure the company is prepared for ISO45001 certification and maintain this through active management of systems.
Book, prepare and lead all external Third Party Audits and ensure follow up of interventions by enforcing authorities. This includes internal pre audits to ensure compliance and reviews or amends as required.
Ensure the ownership of Site HSE meetings is maintained by Site Leads and provide reports or information as required. Support General managers with any requirements to ensure these take place and are useful.
Establish, maintain and report on a system for the timely reporting and investigation of safety and environmental events (accidents, incidents, near misses and non-conformities). Ensuring active review every 6 months.
Lead off RIDDOR reportable accident investigations and corrective actions
Advise the Executive Team and Management on the setting of HS&E objectives.Establish management programmes, monitor compliance and report on progress to the Executive Team, Management and HSE meetings as required.
Provide ongoing support and advice to managers, as requested, on all matters relating to health, safety and environmental topics.In particular base level occupational health interventions, specialist risk assessments, waste management, energy efficiency and contractor management.
Continuous interaction with and communication with all levels with the business with the aim of supporting a positive health and safety culture and behavioural HS&E.
Establish, maintain and report on a system for identifying and evaluating significant health and safety risks and environmental impacts.
Develop online systems to enable electronic reporting, compliance and signatures of all associates relating to HS&E.
Lead all training and development of associates to ensure that behavioural HS&E is embedded across all sites.
Participate in the identification of HS&E training needs analysis. This may involve the presentation of training where deemed to cost effective for the business.
Develop, implement and report on systems for conducting workplace inspections and internal audits.Support senior managers in the management of these within their areas of responsibility.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
NEBOSH Diploma
Experience in Health Safety and Environmental Management systems and procedures
Chartered Membership of IOSH
IEMA or equivalent
Previous experience working in a safety environment
Familiar with safe working practices
To have a good understanding of Corporate and Social responsibilities
Excellent communication and relationship building skills
