The Role * You’ll ensure that the maintenance and repair of cranes and ancillary plant equipment, ensuring compliance with OEM and legislative requirements and all company policies and Regulations are adhered to. * When required the engineering Crane Mechanical Superintendent will also take the lead responsibility for Cranes and associated equipment support across the responsible sites. * The engineering Crane Mechanical Superintendent is responsible for managing Health, Safety and Environment within the department. * You will respond to asset breakdowns and resolve the cause of faults/defects to minimise downtime. * You’ll communicate maintenance progress updates to the relevant stakeholders and keep accurate records of your department’s task Responsibilities * Ensure all duties are completed in line with RAMS and Company Health & Safety policy - Be active in Risk Assessments compiling and reviewing. * Assist management in direct sight of department’s daily operation. * To ensure an effective and efficient use of an asset management system. * Proactively monitor performance within the team, evaluating training needs, labour levels and qualification opportunities and addressing areas of underperformance, where necessary. * Participate in assigned long-term preventative maintenance programs and projects * Co-ordinate activities of the engineering team, providing clear, concise direction to maximise employee contribution, e.g. Continuous Improvement and ensure delivery of the maintenance plan as agreed. * Liaise with the Crane Manager and as required Operations management team to prioritise both reactive and planned maintenance to ensure that service and repair levels are maintained. * Conduct communication events to the engineering team frequently, and with individuals when required. * Ensure that the PM schedule is complete, and any issues are communicated and take ownership in closing out on time and in full. * Liaising with suppliers to ensure that we are receiving quality equipment/components that are cost effective. * Contractor management issuing work permits, ensuring all 3rd parties are working safely and accordingly in line with PD’s processes and procedures. * Manage positive customer and employee relations. * Motivate and drive the team forward with Continuous improvement and engineering excellence. * Ensure all statutory examinations are in line with current legislation and Company procedure. * Ensure workshop is operating effectively, efficiently, and good housekeeping is always maintained. * Provide technical support to teams to resolve complex faults. * Assist operational colleagues with solving operational problems through innovative engineering approaches. Physical Demands * Primarily office-based with computer use, occasional presence in operations and on port assets. * Role will demand: Climbing, lifting, bending, carrying. Requirements * Good technical knowledge of plant and machinery. * HNC in Mechanical Engineering or technical equivalent. * IOSH certified
