General Manager

Our client is looking for a General Manager to look after the day-to-day operations of the business from sales through to manufacturing. They specialise in producing liquid and granular storage systems for the agriculture, horticulture and aquaculture industries as well as special storage solutions required for firefighting and petrochemical uses

As General Manager you will be responsible for

• To oversee the factory via the Factory Manager.
• To oversee general sales and technical matters via the Internal Sales and Technical Manager
• To oversee purchasing and logistics, via the Administration Manager and Technical Manager.
• To directly manage major customers and contracts, with support from the Internal Sales Manager and the External Sales Consultant. This would involve international travel.
• To oversee finance working with the Finance Manager and external accountants.
• To manage all major material purchasing, supply and stock working within parameters agreed with the Board of Directors.
• To manage all Personnel matters.
• To oversee Health and Safety Management with support from the Technical Manager and Factory Manager (both IOSH qualified).
• To set pricing and costing criteria and analyse job costing data.
• To work with Finance Manager to develop budgets and present to the Board of Directors for approval.
• To review credit status and approve credit accounts for customers beyond £10k (the Finance Manager has authority up to this limit).
• To monitor and evaluate performance and productivity. To eventually set up and manage KPIs.
• To develop long-term strategic goals working with the Board of Directors and implement actions accordingly.

Our client is looking for people with the following key requirements:

• Experience managing an SME within the manufacturing/ engineering sector
• An understanding of profit and loss account and balance sheets
• Excellent Leadership skills
• Valid passport and willingness to travel overseas (estimated 4 short trips per annum)

The role is 8-5 Monday to Friday.
