My client is a leading UK manufacturer known for using sustainable materials to create innovative products that support the green energy sector. As they continue to grow, we are looking for an experienced Materials Buyer to join the Supply Chain team, managing a significant annual spend and contributing to the continued success of the business. You will work in a close-knit team and will get stuck into duties that span Supply Chain all while enjoying a friendly, collaborative working environment. About the Role As Materials Buyer, you will play a critical role in sourcing raw materials and managing indirect procurement to support production. This role is ideal for someone who has extensive experience in manufacturing, can independently manage a large spend, and has the ability to build and maintain strong supplier relationships. What you’ll do * Procurement Management: Handle the supply chain for key raw materials, including sourcing, negotiating contracts, and resolving any issues with suppliers. * Managing a Large Spend: You’ll oversee an annual spend of £10m+, making sure the business gets good value without compromising on quality. * Supplier Relationships: Build and maintain strong supplier relationships, ensuring materials are delivered on time and to the right standard. * Stock Planning: Plan and schedule material deliveries to meet production timelines, avoiding any delays. * Market Monitoring: Keep an eye on market prices to make informed purchasing decisions and avoid unnecessary cost increases. * Compliance: Ensure all purchases meet the necessary health, safety, and environmental standards, working closely with internal teams to maintain high standards. What you’ll bring * Industry Experience: At least 5 years of experience in manufacturing procurement, with a proven track record of managing large budgets. * Negotiation Skills: You know how to get the best deal while maintaining good relationships with suppliers. * Clear Communication: Able to liaise with people at all levels, both inside and outside the business. * Independent Worker: You’re comfortable managing your own workload and making decisions without needing much oversight. * Relationship Building: You can foster long-term relationships with suppliers and know how to resolve issues when they arise. * Market Awareness: You keep up with market trends and price fluctuations to make the best buying decisions. * IT Skills: Proficient in Excel and other relevant IT systems.
