Your new companyYou will be working for one of the UK's largest construction and concrete frame contractors with over 5 decades of experience in the construction industry. This organisation operates within the commercial, transport infrastructure, residential, retail, aviation, stadia, car parks and scientific sectors, for both public and private clients.Your new roleAs the Health & Safety advisor, you will be responsible for promoting, advising, training and consulting on all aspects of Health and Safety and environmental issues within a construction company's environment. A successful candidate will need to be security cleared.Key responsibilities include:Preventing injury to personnel and damage to plant and equipment.Improvement in existing working methods.Legal requirements affecting health, safety and welfare and the adequacy of facilities provided.Provision and use of protective clothing and equipment.Suitability from a safety viewpoint of plant, equipment, materials and services, and the validity of all appropriate test certificates, and whether they comply with all statutory requirements.Potential hazards arising from contracts and on the site safety organisation, arrangements and fire precautions are required.Methods of safe working.Changes in legislation.Assist as necessary during tendering, planning and pre-contract stages to advise on all safety, health and welfare matters and pre-contract training requirements.Carry out safety inspections and where appropriate audits in conjunction with appropriate management to see that statute codes of practice and method statements and company safety arrangements are complied with.What you'll need to succeedThe ideal candidate would have:NEBOSH General or ConstructionMember of IOSHValid UK driving licenceGood knowledge of H & S LegislationPrevious experience in a construction health and safety position.What you'll get in returnIn return, you will receive a wide range of company benefits-including 23 days' holiday plus bank holiday, private healthcare on a single cover basis, pension scheme plus more.
