Our client is looking for a Senior Project who has experience of Life Science projects.The team is a dynamic and supportive group of professionals. They operate across their West End and City office locations. Within this team, a specialised sub-team has been focusing on landlord and tenant Science instructions for the past 5 years, and they are now looking to expand this group.The broader team focuses on the primary London office sector, serving a diverse range of investor, developer, and occupier clients. This role is part of the London Project Management team but will focus on developing expertise in technical Life Science projects. These projects include office-to-lab conversions for small to medium-sized tenants and speculative developments for landlords.We are seeking a highly motivated, sociable, and driven individual with a background in Building Surveying or Project Management. While prior experience in the Science sector is not strictly required, a strong desire to learn and work within this sector is essential.Project Manager requirementsTheir London Life Science team has successfully completed numerous challenging projects, primarily involving the conversion of office buildings into wet laboratory spaces. Over the past 4 years, the team has worked on over 250,000 sq ft of office-to-lab conversions within Greater London, with plans to further expand these efforts.The successful candidate will be actively involved in all stages of the project lifecycle and will play a key role in delivering projects. You will receive full support from the team and mentorship from the current head of London Life Science to accelerate your learning. Additionally, you will be supported by the wider London Office Project Management team.Core Role and ValuesDemonstrate a genuine interest in the Life Science sector, with a desire to learn and be upskilled by the wider team.Exhibit a driven attitude with a focus on building long-term relationships within the business and sector.Oversee the delivery of fit-out and refurbishment projects at a strategic level, ensuring the client’s brief is met within time, quality, and cost parameters.Represent the company, the Building & Project Consultancy (BPC), and the London Office Project Management team with professionalism and integrity.Maintain a client-focused approach, delivering exceptional levels of service.Support colleagues in project delivery and step in during periods of absence.Attend industry events and activities to build your profile and expand your personal network.Develop strong relationships with colleagues and clients to seek out new opportunities.Work independently while maintaining communication with the wider team and senior directors.Act with integrity and honesty.Contribute to team meetings and take responsibility for delivering actions and initiatives to support team and business goals.Collaborate with colleagues across the company to secure combined business development opportunities.Technical Role and ResponsibilitiesEngage in the upfront project briefing stages, developing an understanding of technical briefs and assisting in the recommendation of the right professional team.Utilise your background in Building Surveying or Project Management to provide initial technical recommendations and strategic advice before appointing a wider professional team.Support and advise clients in the strategic planning of projects, including team selection, procurement routes, design management, and risk mitigation.Create and manage project programs.Deliver necessary project documentation, including meeting minutes, project reports, financial reports, and other associated documents.Administer contracts (JCT suite of contracts); experience with NEC contracts is advantageous.Collaborate with the professional team throughout all stages of the project, from briefing and design to tender, construction, and handover.Oversee project completion and close-out activities.Skills, Knowledge, and Experience CompetenciesConfident communicator with excellent written and verbal skills.Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with peers and clients.Team player, willing to support colleagues, address issues, and contribute to team success.Trusted advisor to clients with strong commercial awareness.Independent worker who knows when to seek advice or ask questions.Eager to learn and support others.Takes pride in their work and the perception of others.Technical ExperienceVocational degree qualification and MRICS qualification or equivalent.Other project management, engineering, design, or cost management qualifications will also be considered.Proven track record as a project manager delivering successful projects.Experience in the science sector, whether through project management, R&D development, university study, or previous employment.Visionary with the ability to develop complex strategies and solutions.Experience presenting project strategy and approach as part of a pitch team.Ability to support lead PMs from inception to completion while managing multiple projects.Detail-oriented, organized, and punctual.Strong team player who quickly establishes trust and credibility.Committed to challenging goals and consistently delivering results.Resilient and able to lead from the front.Diplomatic and influential, with strong decision-making skills.Ethical with a strong sense of integrity.
